Our thoughts here at 52impact are with Spain in the wake of the devastating floods that have struck various regions over the past week. This tragic event has not only impacted infrastructure but also taken lives, with several still missing. Yesterday, our Director’s Koen Verberne and Thijs Perenboom had the opportunity to represent 52impact at the 2024 “Geo Get-Together: Pioneering Space-Based Solutions for the Financial Sector” hosted by Rabobank and European Space Agency - ESA for the newly established taskforce, Space for Bioeconomy. The 2024 #COP16 Conference represents an opportunity for organizations globally to gather and discuss the escalating biodiversity crisis and establish 23 United Nations targets to "halt and reverse" species loss.... 🌳 52impact focuses on combatting biodiversity challenges with organizations utilizing complex spatial analyses and interpreting this data to enable better decision making across organizations. In coordination with the NSO - Netherlands Space Office and Provincie Zeeland, our team conducted analyses' related to the #sensitivity and resilience of #naturalhabitats to droughts as seen in the figures below. 🍃 🌿🌍 The project was developed with an SBIR R&D project funded by the NSO and allows for research to be validated on where #restoration efforts are being made. 52impact focuses on helping organizations and corporates with their nature management and #biodiversity related targets.
