Although I’m still relatively new to Yardi, with a year's experience, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the remarkable impact their comprehensive suite of services has on streamlining property management and operations. As a data scientist, I’m especially impressed by Yardi’s recent product enhancements — they offer clear, meaningful insights for any user, and the improvements are truly fantastic. 🚀 I'm looking forward to attending the London YASC event next week! In 2014, while I was working with Qube at Lee Baron, a new client brought Yardi into the picture. It was a name none of my colleagues recognised, but I felt a spark of curiosity and decided to dive in. That decision? It changed everything. What started as a step into the unfamiliar turned out to be the best career move I could have made. Yardi opened doors I didn’t even know existed, leading me to opportunities I’ll forever be grateful for. Fast-forward to nearly five years at 33Floors, and I’ve had the incredible privilege of working with some of the brightest minds across the globe, spanning over 30 countries. Each client has brought its own unique challenges, and Yardi has been the constant that ties it all together. From Voyager 6 to Voyager 7, and now, the exciting anticipation of Voyager 8 — it feels like I’ve grown alongside Yardis main product, and the journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Yardi isn't just a software provider — it’s a community of innovation, growth, and connection that has shaped who I am as a professional today. “Reece, we’re moving to Yardi!” I was taken aback. "Yardi?! What's Yardi? I’ve only just, after all these years, mastered another system!" Little did I know that this would be a turning point in my career and one that would shape my professional path over the next 11 years. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for that decision by my client, as it opened doors I never even imagined. For nearly seven years now, I’ve had the privilege of working at 33Floors, collaborating with some of the most talented colleagues and incredible clients from all corners of the globe. My Yardi journey has given me opportunities not only to grow as a professional but also to explore new places and meet amazing, diverse people from all walks of life. With my accounting background, I've always found it fascinating to learn about the different accounting standards and governance across countries and the unique challenges in each one! (Poland, cough, cough!) My very first Yardi implementation introduced me to the core product, working alongside Yardi’s very own Gert-Jan Veerman, who, to this day, I still pester to answer my questions (Sorry, GJ!). After joining 33Floors, I quickly realised the immense scale of Yardi’s offerings, and it has been incredible to watch the company and product grow, particularly with the addition of the Elevate suite over the last few years. Now, with the exciting (and slightly scary!) advancements in AI, I’m eagerly watching to see where this takes us and Yardi next, but please let's hope we avoid SkyNet! As Yardi celebrates its 40th anniversary, I want to express my appreciation for being part of this network of brilliant people. My first introduction to Yardi was 24 years ago when I was Head of Property Management Accounts at Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker, and the decision was made to adopt Yardi, which had long been in use by C&W US. This was the first time Yardi was going to be used in the UK, and there were just a few challenges to face — mainly the differences between American and UK leases. After a few telephone meetings, where I heard the phrase ‘You’re kidding me!’ way too often, it was decided that I should fly out to Santa Barbara and spend a week with the Yardi programmers explaining the lease and accounting requirements that the software needed to fit the UK market. I will always remember my first morning there, meeting with the programmers in a large, sunny boardroom. As we started to work through the issues, we were joined by a mature man who quietly took a seat at the end of the table and listened without interrupting. I was asked questions while the programmers started brainstorming potential solutions. It was fascinating and humbling to see the power of the hive brain in action. When we stopped for a much-needed break, the quiet man at the end of the table came up to introduce himself. Greeting me warmly, he said ‘Hello, I am Anant Yardi.’ He left a long-lasting impression on me that remains to this day: a gentle man who exuded genius and just wanted to do things right with clever solutions in one system. Of course, his sense of doing right far exceeds software. He and his company give so much back through charitable works and donations. I will be forever grateful that I was in the right job at the right time to meet him and be a small part of the united team that got Yardi operational in the UK!
