Onions are vegetables commonly used to enhance the flavor of dishes, much like spices. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, B vitamins (such as folate and B6), and essential minerals like potassium and manganese, all of which are vital for good health and boosting the immune system. The compounds quercetin and sulfur in onions help lower bad cholesterol levels and regulate blood pressure. Additionally, the antioxidants in onions combat oxidative stress, thereby reducing the risk of heart diseases. Onions also contain sulfur-rich compounds and flavonoids, which have been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and lower the risk of developing various cancers, including colorectal and stomach cancer. Moreover, they contain fructans, a type of fiber that acts as a prebiotic, supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which aids digestion and promotes gut health. The vitamin C and other antioxidants in onions further strengthen the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and diseases. Onions add flavor and depth to a variety of dishes, making them a delicious and easy addition to your meals. Whether eaten raw, sautéed, or caramelized, they offer a tasty way to enhance both your palate and your health. #Superfood #SuperfoodSunday #HealthyEating #Diet #Nutrition #CancerFoods #CancerCare

Today is World Hepatitis Day! Chronic hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) are major causes of chronic liver disease and liver cancer worldwide, responsible for at least 80% of all liver cancers (hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC). In addition to liver cancer, chronic hepatitis infections are linked to other cancers, such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly with HCV due to chronic immune system stimulation and inflammation. Protect yourself by getting vaccinated for hepatitis B, seeking early treatment for hepatitis C, and attending regular screenings. #WorldHepatitisDay #LiverHealth #LiverCancer #CancerCare #CancerAwareness

Did you know certain factors can increase your risk of developing sarcoma? Prolonged exposure to chemicals like arsenic, vinyl chloride monomer (used in plastics), phenoxyacetic acid (in herbicides), and chlorophenols (used in wood preservatives), as well as high doses of radiation, can elevate your risk. Long-term swelling in the arms and legs (lymphedema) and genetic conditions such as Gardner syndrome, Werner syndrome, von Hippel-Lindau disease, Gorlin syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, Li-Fraumeni syndrome, retinoblastoma, and neurofibromatosis type 1 also increase the risk of developing sarcoma. If you are at risk due to your work environment or genetic factors, be vigilant and take extra measures to protect yourself. #CancerRiskFactors #Sarcoma #CancerAwareness #CancerEducation #SarcomaAwareness

Sarcomas usually present in different forms based on the tumour’s location. Early stages might not cause noticeable symptoms, but as the tumour grows, you may experience a new lump that may or may not hurt, pain in an arm, leg, abdomen, or pelvis, trouble moving your arm or leg (limp or limited range of motion), unexplained weight loss, and back pain. Some sarcomas cause painless lumps, while others lead to long-lasting bone pain or swelling that worsens at night, limiting movement. These symptoms can also be linked to other conditions, so it is important to see your doctor if you notice a combination of these symptoms to rule out Sarcoma. #SarcomaSymptoms #CancerAwareness #Sarcoma #CancerRiskFactors
