AI at Meta has recently launched Llama 3.1, a groundbreaking model featuring 405 billion parameters, making it the most advanced open model released to date. Our AI Personality of the month is Stephen Odaibo, MD, MS(Math), MS(Comp. Sci.). Dr. Stephen G. Odaibo, Founding Partner of Global AI Experts and CEO of RETINA-AI Health, Inc., is a physician, retina specialist, computer scientist, full stack AI Engineer, and AI/ML expert. He completed his undergraduate studies at the The University of Alabama and medical school at Duke University, where he excelled in Neurology and Pediatrics, earning the Barrie Hurwitz Award for Excellence in Neurology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Howard and Retina fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Odaibo also holds master's degrees in mathematics and computer science. In 2017, he received the UAB Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. He has authored two mathematics textbooks: "Quantum Mechanics and the MRI Machine" (2012) and "The Form of Finite Groups" (2016). He has extensive experience in AI system development and management. He is a Google Cloud-Certified Professional Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer and built the world's first mobile AI application for eyecare providers. As CEO of RETINA-AI, he led the development of the RETINA-AI Galaxy software for diabetic retinopathy detection and managed the largest pivotal clinical trial for an autonomous AI system in the U.S. He also holds a U.S. patent for an AI system detecting diseases from ophthalmic images. Dr. Odaibo has chaired AI workshops at the Medical Device Software Development Summits in the U.S. (2022, 2023) and EU (2023), and the "Artificial Intelligence & Tech in Medicine Symposium" at the National Medical Association Meeting (2019). He serves on the Advisory Board of the Duke University Master of Engineering in AI program and is a board member of DSNai - Data Science Nigeria. He continues to practice part-time as a Retina Physician, giving him practical insights into AI implementation in healthcare. His interdisciplinary expertise benefits industries like medical devices, pharmaceuticals, banking, finance, logistics, cybersecurity, energy, advanced manufacturing, analytics, commerce, and healthcare.
