revmed.ch – A B2B portal for continuing medical education for physicians

Netgen works together with MedHyg continuously on the optimization of the online portal revmed.ch. This has created a comprehensive and at the same time clear information offering for medical professionals. The site offers modern publishing on a weekly basis with more than 30,000 articles to date. The portal is completed by a user-friendly e-commerce solution and sophisticated marketing automation workflows.

Revue Médicale Suisse is a scientifically independent journal dedicated to the continuing education of medical professionals and the French-language dissemination of medical content in French-speaking Switzerland. It is published by Groupe Médecine & Hygiène and is the official organ of the Société médicale de la Suisse romande and the Swiss Society of Internal Medicine.

Our role: Integration of different live systems

Conception, UX design, development, implementation and ongoing technical support of the complete website, e-commerce solution and analytics.

Challenge: No downtime and better performance expected

In total, more than 20,000 items had to be migrated and a connection to the e-commerce store in Magento and to the ERP system had to be established. Different access rights and roles for different users were introduced. The PayWall system and the purchasing process also had to be optimized.

Solution: Continuous improvements and adjustments of the systems

The whole application setup was and remains complex. We have 3 live systems in 2014 that we needed to migrate, update and improve. The work took long and was complex. We had initially to identify what the possbilities of those systems where and how is the most efficient way to connect them. At the end we mastered it and started to develop additional features with the team, such as an improved book and magazine module with great user capabilities. The whole reader is linked to a Book/Magazine importer that makes the administration and curation easy for editors.

Different technologies were used:

  • CMS: eZ Platform (http://www.ibexa.co )
  • Layout Manager: Neetgen Layouts
  • E-commerce: Magento
  • Integration to Talend / Compiere ERP / APIZ
  • Integrations to CRM systems

These technologies will enable the operation of multi-shop systems in the future. Netgen has the entire technical responsibility over the platforms and guarantees the operation.
