The Blended Finance to Empower Climate MSMEs workshop, held on 11 September 2024 brought together stakeholders from both demand and supply sides to explore how blended finance can de-risk investments in MSMEs providing products and services for climate mitigation and adaptation. #MyUNDP, supported by #ClimateFinanceNetwork, organized the workshop to identify the market failures and potential benefits of blended finance to bridge the gap, together with Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad, Seedstars and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Some of the preliminary findings from the survey, such as mismatch in funding sizes and tenure and high perceived risks, have been validated through the breakout group discussions with stakeholders’ experiences. The study will further analyse the financing gap of climate MSMEs to provide the validity and justification for establishing a financial instrument with blended finance structure. Based on the assessment it will then develop the main characteristics of such instruments to facilitate collaboration of key stakeholders with interests. Stay tuned to see our findings through this exercise! #ClimateFinance #BlendedFinance #ClimateFinancing #SustainableInvesting #Financinggap
