Safety ready, Olympics!   As French capital celebrates 100 years of the 1924 Paris games, Paris 2024 brings back many of those Olympic traditions. Over 10,500 athletes will be competing at the #Paris2024, and we have installed our HI-SCAN 6040i, HI-SCAN 7555i and HI-SCAN 7555si at Marseille, Yves du Manoir, and National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines stadiums to safeguard the event against any threats.    The installations began in the mid of July 2023 and were completed by September 2023. A huge thanks to the Paris team for successfully completing the installations, and the training staff for their constant support throughout the event.    Wishing the best for all the athletes participating and hope to see a safe athletic festival.

⚽ Smiths Detection technology used to secure yet another sport event, UEFA EURO 2024 ⚽ As Spain clinched its fourth record-breaking title, Smiths Detection's high-energy technology was deployed across sites in Germany to keep over 512,000 people, including employees, players, delegates, and other staff, safe. Our X-ray scanners, walk-through, and handheld metal detectors were used to ensure that no threats found their way into the stadium, maintaining the highest levels of security throughout the tournament. 🏆 Next stop, the 2024 Paris Olympics!

Cycling to avoid CO2 emissions. Our colleagues across the Wiesbaden and Hamburg sites recently participated in a 3-week cycling competition. A total of 20 cyclists used their bicycles to commute from their workspaces and houses. This activity aimed to avoid carbon dioxide emissions and travel in a climate-friendly way. The team cycled over 3,500 kilometers, saving over 750 kilograms of CO2. Congratulations to all the participants!

We are thrilled to partner with CEA-Leti in developing the SDX 10060 XDi, our latest hold baggage scanner powered by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technology. The collaboration began in 2010 and led to the launch of the SDX 10060 XDi in April, debuting at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt. The SDX 10060 XDi is set to transform the screening process by automating the alarm resolution of potential threats, improving overall security and efficiency. Last week, our Wiesbaden site had the pleasure of hosting 40 students, around 15 years old, from the local Humboldt School. This event offered these young minds a glimpse into the technical professional world. During their visit, our experts gave a demonstration of our hand luggage control station, provided an introduction to CAD design, guided the students on a tour of the production hall, and conducted interactive experiments involving light and X-rays. We extend our thanks to all those who made this event possible, and to the students for their enthusiastic participation. At Smiths Detection, we believe in fostering curiosity and providing real-world experiences that can spark a lifelong interest in science and technology.
