13 July 2024: At Architects of Diversity's Inclusivity Summit, I spoke about why human rights and non-discrimination are, and must be, the foundations of all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. DEI is specifically also a labour rights issue. Corporate Malaysia must not only rely on the government for reforms. It can and should lead by operationalising DEI due diligence assessments, preventing and ceasing adverse impacts, and providing effective remedies in their organisations. Further, grievance mechanisms have to be institutionalised as a channel for complaints to be made and effectively addressed. Much more can be done!

Recently, I had a remarkable journey in my life, which I got the chance to participate in Sekolah Diversiti 7.0, organized by Architects of Diversity Malaysia. Sekolah Diversiti is a program designed specifically for Form 4 and Form 5 students from a variety of backgrounds, including ethnicity, state, religion, and other elements, across Malaysia. To be honest, when I applied to this short course camp, I wasn't sure if I would make it true. Fortunately, it's my privilege to meet such a brilliant group of people. Throughout the camp, I had a really great time learning so many things. We dived into some thought-provoking topics, including identity, conflict and inclusion, digital civility, and action, and also discussed real-world problems happening around us. When I took a step back and looked around, I would say Malaysia is so beautiful that we have such a rich culture between the communities, but it is also a challenge for us to embrace it. Despite the differences, the friendships made at camp will never be forgotten. Even though this camp was only held for five days and four nights, we still made a lot of memories. We spent time together, sharing our life experiences with each other. Meeting them, students of smart people from different locations and backgrounds, adds another dimension to the camp, which is that I would say this is the best camp I've ever attended in my life! I hope this will mark my journey to promote diversity for a better Malaysia! Thank you again Architects of Diversity Malaysia , for this opportunity. #SekolahDiversiti

I recently had the honour of working on an amazing initiative, Panduan Politik untuk Belia (PPuB), alongside incredible individuals—Michelle Lee and Jonathan Wong.🌟 As proud alumni of Kampus Advokasi 2.0, we took on the challenge of organizing an event dedicated to empowering university students in the realm of politics. Our mission was clear—to bridge the gap between university students and political leaders. Our platform aimed to empower students not just with knowledge but also with enhanced networking skills. The event was a stepping stone for students to establish connections and explore potential collaborations within the academic sphere.🌐 Our event was graced by four outstanding speakers— Rajiv Rishyakaran, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, Melanie Ting, and Danny Villenguez Mohd Amani. These accomplished individuals shared their motivations for venturing into politics, their personal journeys, and advice for staying abreast of political developments. The diverse insights emphasized the richness that varied perspectives bring to the political landscape. 🌎 The Q&A session was a highlight, with participants posing a multitude of engaging inquiries. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, reinforcing the importance of fostering curiosity in political discourse and creating spaces for meaningful interactions, extending beyond the confines of traditional academic settings. As we wrap up this edition of PPuB, I am excited about the prospect of continuing this series. The positive feedback and enthusiasm from participants fuel our determination to make the next PPuB even more impactful. A special shout-out to Architects of Diversity Malaysia for being the backbone of this empowering student advocacy initiative. Your support has been instrumental, and we look forward to continuing this journey together! 🙌
