Success at #COP29Azerbaijan will largely hinges on one thing: finance💰🔽 Countries need to collectively agree to deliver much more, higher-quality finance for #climateaction. This finance is fundamental to improving people’s lives and helping communities adapt to climate impacts. Will COP29 unlock a new era of action? ▶️ https://bit.ly/4his8KN Follow Ani Dasgupta for more on people, nature and climate🌎

Our cities are facing unprecedented challenges, from climate change to growing inequality. But within these challenges lie opportunities for transformation. 🦋 "Building for People: Towards an Equitable Transition in the Built Environment" identifies 5️⃣ key actions to decarbonize the built environment while ensuring no one is left behind: 1. Include the Excluded 2. Holistically Align with Other Urban Sectors 3. Advance Multilevel Governance 4. Integrate Monitoring Mechanisms 5. Think Global, Act Local These strategies provide a roadmap for creating sustainable urban spaces that work for everyone. Learn more about how we can use these actions to make cities that are green, clean and fair: https://bit.ly/3BrtRwR #sustainablecities #inclusivecities #resilientcities #buildings #cities

Just returned from Cali, Colombia where COP16 Colombia is still in full swing with a focus on negotiations now. My last meeting was an important and promising one of a very ambitious partner of WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and a stellar example of urban transformation: Bogotá. Meeting the Mayor of Bogotá and his team to extensively discuss areas of change and collaboration. Over several administrations Bogotá has delivered bold action on clean, public transportation, walking and biking, road safety, livable neighborhoods, monitoring air quality and much more. It made the city a prime example of what’s possible when you are not Vienna or Amsterdam (no offense..). Ambition will continue to be the key word of mayor Galan’s urban agenda. Nature and biodiversity, water and clean air, electric buses and road safety are some of the areas WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and World Resources Institute Colombia 🇨🇴 will continue to support.
