Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with students at Universidad Montrer Oficial about the impact of technology and AI on employment. One of the key questions they asked was: How should we prepare for the challenges of the future?
My answer? There's no perfect answer, especially in these uncertain times. In 4 years, you might be working for a company that doesn't even exist yet. But here’s what we do know: the world is global, competitive, connected, and constantly changing.
During the pandemic, we faced similar uncertainties, and the skills that helped us through are still relevant today:
1) Digital Skills: Regardless of your field—whether it’s anthropology, psychology, law, or tourism—digital skills are essential. They will open doors in the future.
2) Entrepreneurial Mindset: Don’t fear failure. Be creative, explore, and find solutions where others see problems. This mindset is crucial for navigating an ever-changing world.
3) Life Skills: Communication, collaboration, empathy, adaptability, and resilience. These are skills you’ll need throughout your entire life.
4) Love what you do and find happiness within. No matter how the world changes, the love for what you do and inner happiness will be your anchor and compass.
And finally, become a lifelong learner. The ability to unlearn and relearn new skills will be key to thriving in the years ahead.
