In the Iris Room, Innocent Chibwe presented findings on *Aeromonas caviae* isolated from patients with cholera-like illness during Malawi's 2022-2023 cholera outbreak. The study revealed that 7.4% of cases were due to *A. caviae*, highlighting a diagnostic gap. Multiple antimicrobial resistance genes, including tetracycline and beta-lactam resistance, were identified, suggesting common cholera treatments may be ineffective against these strains.
