About us

Recognizingq the role of Indigenous Economics in the economic development, policy formulation and implementation of the discipline in Malawi, this is a non-partisan network of economists and other stakeholders. IESM has a vision to have a bearing on economic policy analysis advocacy and public awareness in economic issues. IESM exists as the voice of Indigenous Economics for the benefit of the Economics profession, its practitioners and national stakeholders. The Society was first established in 2008 as a student body (which still runs today) by Angella Faith Montfaucon under the Leadership of Prof. Chinyamata Chipeta and is now a nationwide Society working in collaboration with economics with likeness of vision in the region.
