The story goes that Harley Streten learned to make music after the young Australian found a music-production software disc in a box of cereal. Fittingly, his debut as Flume is as diverse as a balanced breakfast, traversing R&B, soul, dubstep, pop, and rap: the scrunched funk of “Holdin’ On” contains all of it. Streten has an ear for the perfect guest vocalist, too. Chet Faker’s doleful tones illuminate the depths of “Drop the Game,” while George Maple’s breathy coos guide the cascading sparkle of “Bring You Down.”
