Early Hours can mean a few different things: Are you winding down after being up all night, or are you just rising to meet the sun? Often the artists helming Apple Music’s exclusive Early Hours DJ mix series cater to both frames of mind. Such was the case with this edition from Space Afrika, a Manchester duo composed of producers Joshua Inyang and Joshua Reid. The latter says they structured their mix around “the temporal intersection between night and day” and tried to “play with space and velocity for a seamless journey.” Among the pair’s favourite tracks: “Somi / The Haunting of Grace” by Taylor Deupree and Klein. “We love Taylor’s work!” he adds. “They manage to capture these lullabylike fragments which have this hypnagogia effect on the mind.”
