About Jess Glynne
British belter Jess Glynne—born in London in 1989—got a powerful introduction into the pop world in 2014, when Clean Bandit's fizzy banger "Rather Be", which featured her on vocals, conquered the pop charts. But while listeners knew her sultry, soulful voice, she didn't fully reveal her artistry until the following year, when she released her debut, I Cry When I Laugh. "It was a really amazing transition to have a song do really well [while] keeping a bit of myself to me," Glynne told Apple Music. "It was kind of like leaving love behind and going off into… the unknown." That album established Glynne as a radio-ready diva who possessed a deep respect for soul music and a drive to inspire, with songs like the giddy "Ain't Got Far To Go" and the jubilant "Hold My Hand" retaining the ebullient vibe of her breakthrough hit while drawing from R&B influences. Glynne's 2018 follow-up Always in Between continued her quest to pep up the pop world, and songs like the deliberate "I'll Be There" and the groovy "Rollin" showcase her strong vibrato and unwavering spirit over vigorous beats.
