About Northlane
Like most modern metalcore bands, Sydney’s Northlane pair the genre’s traditional blast beats and pulverising riffs with broader influences—including the abrasive distortion heard in industrial rock and the hollowed-out sludge favoured by deathcore. Guitarist Jon Deiley cofounded Northlane in 2009 with multiple musicians, including vocalist Adrian Fitipaldes. The band quickly found success: their 2011 debut album, Discoveries, led to tours with like-minded sonic peers August Burns Red and Parkway Drive, and 2013’s Singularity reached No. 3 on the Australian charts. Fitipaldes left the band in 2014 and was replaced by Marcus Bridge, yet Northlane didn’t miss a step, reaching No. 1 in 2015 with Node and collaborating with In Hearts Wake on the 2016 EP Equinox. In keeping with the band’s penchant for forward motion, the 2021 release “Clockwork” draws on pulsating electronic textures and complicated progressive metal.
