David Banner came out of Mississippi in 2003 as a double threat, rapping on the hit “Like a Pimp” and producing the hard-knocking track's slow-cruising groove. His ear for triumphant synth lines led to one of T.I.'s defining early singles, “Rubber Band Man”. And his use of xylophones and children's voices lends a playful air to Lil Wayne's “La La” and Nappy Roots' self-titled song.
