- Micah Davis, born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1993, has become a sensation for his work as Masego, blending hip-hop flows with R&B melodies and smooth jazz instrumentals. He broke through in 2016 with his EP Loose Thoughts, introducing audiences to his playful blend of a variety of genres. His 2018 LP, Lady Lady, built upon this sound, burrowing deeper into soul and R&B influences, infusing Stevie Wonder-inspired compositions with trap drums and head-nodding bass grooves. His 2023 self-titled epic was a magnum opus built around lush piano melodies and Masego's celebrated saxophone solos.

About Masego
Masego is a Jamaican American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose wide-ranging style blends R&B and soul with jazz, trap, and house music. ∙ With idols ranging from Cab Calloway to Andre 3000, he taught himself saxophone, drums, and piano early in life, then attended university before focusing on his music. ∙ In 2016, he released The Pink Polo EP, a collaboration with Texas-based producer Medasin that featured the popular streaming single “Girls That Dance.” ∙ “Tadow”—his 2017 single with French musician FKJ, whose viral video showed them live-looping the song’s instruments—rose to No. 19 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in 2020. ∙ The title track of Masego’s 2018 debut album, Lady Lady, was helmed by the Grammy-winning producer Sounwave (Kendrick Lamar). ∙ Masego’s 2019 saxophone-jamming appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert garnered almost two million views within six weeks. ∙ He was featured on Kehlani’s 2020 R&B single “Hate the Club,” from her hit album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.
