Filled with raw emotion and complex questions about faith, fame and the rap game, Pound Syndrome is a turbulent set from the Los Angeles rapper/producer/actor. The album’s most powerful moments—“Ill Mind of Hopsin 7,” “Ramona" and “No Hope”—are fast-and-furious rants detailing his complicated views on spirituality and self-image, while “Rap Sucks” is an Auto-Tuned parody of his chart-topping peers. But when the tempo slows down, as on the pensive “My Love”, it also proves that Hopsin is just as captivating when delivering a big hook.
