About Men At Work

Australian pop band Men At Work became global stars in the early ’80s with their quirky debut and humorous music videos. ∙ Men At Work’s first album, 1981’s Business As Usual, spent a then-record 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart before being unseated by Michael Jackson’s Thriller. ∙ The band won the Best New Artist Grammy Award in 1982. ∙ In 1983, they became the first Australian act to have a No. 1 album and single on the US and UK charts, courtesy of their debut LP and the paranoid pop hit “Who Can It Be Now?” ∙ “Down Under” sold more than 2 million copies in the US and was the theme song for the Australia II’s successful 1983 America’s Cup bid. ∙ Singer Colin Hay performed 1983’s “Overkill” throughout the Season Two debut of the sitcom Scrubs after star Zach Braff saw him perform it at an L.A. nightclub. ∙ The group, which has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1994.
