The Energy and Water Agency is currently participating in the "Towards 2050: The Decarbonisation Process" conference! We are showcasing our diverse range of schemes, projects, and initiatives that promote energy and water efficiency for businesses, micro SMEs, households, and more💡💧This was followed by a Q&A discussion forum where participants had the chance to ask questions and exchange ideas. 🗣️

Since 2020, EWA has invested over €1.6 million in research and innovation, assisting around 15 projects as part of the R&I scheme. In fact, Project SWAN is one of these projects that was funded through this scheme and focus on developing a towed, modular system to map offshore groundwater resources using controlled electromagnetic sources. The Agency delivered a presentation during a meeting of the Working Group on Water Reuse, which is part of the Common Implementation Strategy of the EU Water Framework Directive. Representatives of all EU Member States and sectoral organizations, including water utilities, agriculture, research organizations, and others, were present. Currently, the Working Group is exploring opportunities to promote water reuse in Europe. The NAWAMED presentation was intended to inform the discussion on greywater reuse applications in urban areas. 🤝 The presentation highlights the 𝗚𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 identified during the Living Labs undertaken in the countries participating in the NAWAMED Project. These findings were a key contribution to the drafting of a proposal for a Mediterranean Policy Document under the project. NAWAMED outcomes have contributed to the discussion at the EU level, identifying opportunities to promote diverse water reuse applications and support more sustainable water management in Europe.
