At the beginning of April, Samskip commenced a new Shortsea service connecting Santander, Tilbury, and Rotterdam. The service connects Santander to Rotterdam and Northern Spain to the London economic area. It will also enable Rotterdam to be a transshipment port, connecting the customer to Samskip’s service offering to the rest of Europe. Shortsea Promotion Centre Spain recently held its Annual Conference at the Port of Huelva, discussing the new trends in logistics chains promoting the development of Shortsea Shipping as a sustainable alternative. Shortsea Schedules is a logistics search engine that gives the user an overview of logistics options (door-to-door), with the sea route as part of the solution. In only three clicks, we provide an overview of available routes by your search, contact information for relevant shipping companies, and the option to send quote requests directly to the operator. We are already seeing solid user figures --> >3,000 people from all over Europe have used the solution and made over 30,000 lookups. We have connected >800 external links, and shipping lines have directly provided feedback on quote requests from the solution. The solution supports the market's need for easily accessible and transparent information.
