Summary

Description
English: The Statue of Marduk depicted on a cylinder seal of the 9th century BC Babylonian king Marduk-zakir-shumi I. Detailed info, from Schaudig (2008), p. 559:
Statue of Marduk, mounted on the mušḫuššu, the "fierce snake", standing in victory on the watery body of the vanquished Ti'āmat on occasion of the Babylonian New Year's festival. As one can see from the line separating the two layers of water, Ti'āmat has already been split by Marduk to be transformed into the "upper" and the "lower waters". From a cylinder seal, dedicated to Marduk by the Babylonian king Marduk-zākir-šumi (9th cent. BCE). Drawing taken from: F. H. Weissbach, Babylonische Miscellen. Wissen-schaftliche Veröffentlichungen der Deutschen Orient-Gesellschaft 4 (Leipzig, 1903), p. 16, fig. I.
