Wikivoyage
[edit]Hello, how are you doing? For support the Travel Guide/Logo I've sent request of re-permission of the file file:Travel Guide Logo - Proposal Yiyi.svg to the author "Flanker" on it.wikipedia. I write for three other issues too:
- I noticed that some votes were affixed inside the hidden text, this prevents know who wrote them. add an hidden vote
- I think it is useful logos which have received many votes are in the top (on the page) than the others. It is not good that they are at the end of the page, because not all voters have the urge / time to arrive at the end of the page. The proposal number should remain the same.
- I created a category on Wikimedia Commons and a table grouping the main concept idea of the proposed icons in the current voting. Wikivoyage selected proposed icons In this way it is easier to evaluate them according to what said here with Maggie.
Raoli 18:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- A user has proposed two new types of icons in delay, due to the fact that he learned belatedly of the contest. Can be voted? -- Raoli 14:06, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see why not, as long as the user understands that the delay may result in fewer votes. As for the previous issues you mentioned, I would suggest mentioning them on the talk page. LtPowers (talk) 14:10, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
- I've done. Raoli 14:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
- The proposed variation Wikivoyage/Logo#Logo_.232:_Blue.2FOrange.2FGreen.2FYellow_with_gradients should be deleted from the options. This should create copyright problems to WMF. Raoli 23:34, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
- I have written that must not be considered in the page. Is it possible to delete the whole section? Raoli 17:37, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why you're so adamant that we delete it; it's not clear whether or not it'll be a problem. At any rate, it's not my decision to make. Bring up the question on the talk page; that's what it's there for. LtPowers (talk) 18:25, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Your logo vote
[edit]Very strange. Option 20 and 35. It's no Meta logo concern? Do you see the difference between option 4 and 35 (if we not include color scheme in stage 1)? Digr (talk) 20:49, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- For 20, one of the options does not use elements from the Meta logo, and I believe it can be modified to further distinguish them. Same with 35; there are a number of other globe-representations we could use in those elements. It's a fine line, I admit. LtPowers (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions
[edit]The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.
If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.
I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:13, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Your comments at the inspire projects page
[edit]I just wanted to note that I agree with most of your comments at the Grants talk:IdeaLab/Inspire page but its clear that the WMF doesn't care. They are going to manipulate those projects to ensure that the ones they want to succeed do. Arguing with the WMF and company about hiding opposes and other issues related to those pages is like is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how well you play, the pigeon is just going to shit on the board and then strut around like they won anyway. Reguyla (talk) 17:31, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- My apologies, but I'm not sure what you're referring to. My comments have been primarily about refuting the claims that attempts to increase diversity of Wikimedia editors is unnecessary and/or foolish. I don't believe I've been arguing with the WMF on anything. LtPowers (talk) 18:13, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- Several of the people you have been talking to are WMF employees (Ironholds for example) and I should clarify that I don't have a problem with the WMF'ers. I have a problem with how they are mamaging that Inspire stuff like hiding opposes and manipulating the results. I also agree that we need more diversity, not just women but others as well including African (the continent), Chinese (and other asians as well) and people from India. All of those subjects and demographics are sorely lacking. I just don't think that reverse gender discrimination is the answer personally and they need to deal with civility issues first or at least at the same time or they aren't going to stay. Anyway, Cheers and happy editing. Reguyla (talk) 20:34, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review
[edit]I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.
All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:38, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.
Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,
I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:46, 31 May 2016 (UTC) (Opt-out instructions)
