- This is linkspam for a fansite. I have removed all links. This user has a severe warning at nl: since he/she placed many more links to his/her own website. I'd say we blacklist this one. EdBever 18:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- It looks like that I am a spanner?
It seems that some people think that my sites are spam sites. This is not true. They are all non commercial sites....I am not try to sell antyhing !!!
My Prince Valiant site is only for the true PV fan. Nothing commercial. Only info!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 8th militia site is only about the Dutch 8th militia, a superb and rich source of information, free of charge, and I get compliments from readers all over the world. The Forestry Service Group is is a site where developing organisations in third world countries can get FREE technical assistance. I am not selling anything!
It seems that nobody takes the effort to take a close look at the sites. I am very very disapointed at Wiki and the way where private auditors can delete what they want. Marco Bijl Nov, 2008
- I'm afraid you misunderstand what spam is. It is certainly possible for commercial links to be used legitimately and it is certainly possible for non-commercial links to be spammed. Someone adding redcross.org on many wikis inappropriately would be spamming, for example.
- Typically, we do not remove domains from the spam blacklist in response to site-owners' requests. Instead, we de-blacklist sites when trusted, high-volume editors request the use of blacklisted links because of their value in support of our projects. If such an editor asks to use your links, I'm sure the request will be carefully considered and your domain may well be removed.
Response: So, that means that, without any warning, I am blacklisted for ever for something I didn't even knew was wrong, while I only though to be helpfull and add extra background information to articles? That is quit serious and very hard. So, that means that, from now on, I cannot post anything what comes from my IP address on wiki anymore....for ever? Strange system. And by the way, the only reason that I added the same Prince valiant site to many different Wiki-language sites is that I like to tricker response from these countries to make the Prince Valiant site even more complete. What is the harm in that? I am only doing this for hobby and let the rest of world benefit from the more then 1500 prince valiant books ever printed around the world, and be as complete as possible and save this info for future generations. I really really can't understand the reasons for Wiki to block this site. It's an amazing source of information, by it self just like Wiki. Give me ONE good reason why to block this?
Marco
- We have not blocked contributions from your IP, we have simply disallowed additions of a particular domain. You're welcome to contribute constructively. You should not add links to domains which you own. Instead, you can suggest links to add on the articles' talk pages. If people think adding the link is a good idea, they can add it (and request whitelisting if the domain is blacklisted). — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:22, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok, that's a good advise, I will do so and hope that it will work! Thanks for the assistance. Marco
- I'll add some advice and remarks. When you added the link to en.wikipedia, you probably got some messages telling you about editing anonymously, and about adding external links. It certainly is not completely without warning that external links may be unwanted. I am not sure about other wikis, but there it may be similar. If you read the rest of the English page, you could also see that 'The whole history, articles, objects, all 1800 printed books throughout the world and many many more details can be found at the [http://www.princevaliant.net official Prince Valiant fan site. ]Below is a short summary is not exactly what an encyclopedia is about. If you host the official site, and you do believe the link can help adding content to the articles, then I would suggest that you find an appropriate wikiproject on a couple of wikis (on en a good start is w:en:Wikipedia:WikiProject, or on the talkpage of w:en:Prince Valiant, where a probably a projet banner can be found; other wikis have similar systems, and discuss how the link can be used appropriately. If users on several wikis think that the link is of interest, then let established editors request unlisting, otherwise they can try local whitelists. I hope this helps. --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 12:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
