First parameter should be the year when you have participated in the event. By default the text for male user is shown. To use the template with text for female user, write anything as a second parameter. In English text for male and text for female are the same (to preview other language add "?uselang=xx" to the URL, where "xx" is the code of language needed). For example:
To add a translation to new language, add "|xx = your text", where "xx" is the code of language needed, into the text of inclusion of template "LangSwitch", for example just after "|en = something". If in this language text differs for male and for female, use "{{gender switch|{{{1|}}}|Text for female|Text for male}}".
