Requests for global rollback permissions
Global rollback for Micki
- Global user: Micki (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi! I am an active sysop on sr wiki for three years, so I'm familiar with using this function. A few months ago I became a member of the SWMT team. Sometimes more and sometimes less I monitor small wikis (using IRC), revert vandalism and nonsense and mark articles for speedy deletion. I think I'm experienced enough and I certainly wouldn't abuse the trust. I read global rollbackers policy and I am fully aware that I shouldn't use rollback function for questionable edits or revert war. So, I would like to request GR permission because it would greatly facilitate my work. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks for your consideration. mickit 20:15, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Global rollback for Petrb
- Global user: Petrb (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am participating on huggle project and I would like to get global confirmed status so I could test huggle for all projects I was also asked for assistance on many wikis where I can't help as I do not have rollback so I can't start huggle or some pages are protected so I can't update them (config).
- Support - useful and reasonable request I think. For those who don't know, huggle is an anti-vandalism tool. –Juliancolton | Talk 13:23, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support. Petrb does a lot of work with this kind of thing and is certainly trusted to use it correctly. PeterSymonds 14:47, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support - Huggle could use some work in the non-English languages. No problems with trusting this user. Ajraddatz (Talk) 14:51, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support. If I understand correctly Huggle needs rollback to function, so you'd need either GR or local rights in every project where you need to test it. GR comes with the additional advantage of being able to edit semi-protected config pages, which local rollback flags would not automatically allow. Jafeluv 14:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support although very little crosswiki experience yet. But rollback is no big deal. ;o) —DerHexer (Talk) 14:58, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose (edit conflict) - Global rollback is for those experienced users assisting in antivandalism work in lots of wikis. While I think the user is trusted and I think he will not abuse the tools IMHO its intentions are not covered by the scope of global rollback. -- Dferg ☎ talk 15:01, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

- Comment I was under the impression that Huggle does not necessarily need rollback to work. Could someone give me a link to show that it does? Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 08:55, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Scratch that, they did say that they needed GR to edit the config pages... Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 08:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose Per Dferg. I believe GR should be given to people active in crosswiki anti vandalism. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 09:02, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Comment I've created an opt-in wikiset (stewards-only) from this page and put into it all the wikis that currently uses Huggle. If there's a real need to have autoconfirmed status on those projects we can create a global group for the huggle developers limited by that wikiset so that the rights only applies on those wikis. Problem: some configuration pages (ie: eswiki) are fully protected and the editinterface right should not be given out. -- Dferg ☎ talk 13:17, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - Sorry, this revert tool is created for fighting crosswiki vandalism. Even if you are trustworthy, the tool should only be given out to the globally active vandalfighters. -Barras 21:05, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Comment it might be unclear to others as I read few comments - I am developer of huggle, I do not want to use it, I want to help with set up of this tool on all other wikis where it's enabled and test if it works :) I am not going to be fighting vandalism there, only help with the maintenance of project Petrb 18:01, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose xwiki needed first, I'm not sure live wikis are best to be tested upon. fr33kman 19:44, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- Not done At this point, there is no consensus to allow Petrb access to the global rollback toolkit. The primary concern, a lack of interwiki participation that would indicate a need for the tool, is easily rectified, should Petrb be interested in cross- and small-wiki vandalism patrol. -- Avi 05:22, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Global rollback for Diego Grez
- Global user: Diego Grez (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Okay! I'm throwing myself to the lions :) I'm sure most of you have seen me around (mostly last year) fighting vandalism, and helping different stewards by reporting, etc. I am sure global rollback would help me, and even encourage me to help much more to the Wikimedia wikis by combating cross-wiki vandalism. I am an experienced patroller, that recurrently visits IRC channels such as #cvn-sw, and patrol some by irc.wikimedia.org. It's not a big deal, but I'd love you to support. Thank you! Diego Grez return fire 20:12, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- P.D. I haven't been around much lately, but my activity on wiki will begin to increase by around... February 15. Diego Grez return fire 20:13, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
You've applied for global rollback unsuccessfully twice before ([1] and [2]). What has changed since then? And what should we think of the fact you are still blocked indefinitely on es:wiki? Wutsje 22:40, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- These requests were long ago, and I'm sure people here know that I have been combating cross-wiki vandalism (not so much currently... but I do) for long. And the block on es.wikipedia treats a matter that has since been resolved (in my opinion), but still don't let me take an opportunity to come back. I think I am able to help lots, and have enough patience to solve problems. Anyway, if it is worth something, I am mostly involved on English Wikinews (where I have been an administrator since October) and on English Wikipedia. Cheers. Diego Grez return fire 23:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- I support a probationary period (say 1 or 2 months) after which his use of tools would be reviewed. es:Magister Mathematicae 06:11, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose address that block on es first; nobody that is still blocked anywhere should get global rights. Seb az86556 12:22, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - i have to agree with Seb az86556 here. You should not be blocked on any wikis if you are seeking global permissions, especially one as large as es. Additionally, in response to Magister Mathematicae's comment, the process is not set up that way. There was no consensus to start handing out global permissions on a temporary basis. Either the user has the trust to have the global tools, or they do not. Walking the fine line of giving people global rights on a "probationary" status seems like a bad idea. Tiptoety talk 18:42, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that there is no such thing as temporary or probationary global sysop. You either get elected or you don't. fr33kman 06:38, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose Unfortunately. I'm know you're trying, but I'm afraid I cannot support you when you've been indefed on es.wikipedia and only recently released from editing restrictions on en.wikipedia for socking ~1 year ago. Sorry, FASTILY (TALK) 21:15, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - Nothing has changed since last request, and I really don't see a great need for the tools anyways. Ajraddatz (Talk) 02:32, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- Comment In response to Seb az86556, I would like to state that I personally spoke to es.wikipedia last year with a view to having Diego unblocked there, but it seems that despite everywhere else he was blocked unblocking him and finding he is actually a damn good editor when he sets his mind to it, es.wp seem intent on shutting their doors, ignoring everyone else's findings and telling him to vamoose. I still don't understand what their problem is, but if I recall, I spoke to Magister Mathematicæ about it round the time I posted the request. It seems that some places just want to see the bad side of a person, and ignore the fact that he actually has good qualities, can behave himself, and work like fury when he needs to. It's their loss. BarkingFish 15:11, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hm. Thank you for that insight. If that indeed turns out to be true and they're hellbent on keeping him blocked "no-matter-what," then this side of the situation should be taken into consideration. Seb az86556 18:43, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- support: I can only go by my own interactions with Diego, and those have always been fine. I think he's responsible and a good editor. fr33kman 06:34, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Global rollback for Waihorace
- Global user: Waihorace (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am an active wikipedians in zhwiki. I have been granted patroller & rollbacker on zhwp, sysop on zhwn, autopatroller & rollbacker on yuewp and autopatroller on metawiki. I have work for the fundrasier work for 2010 and WP10 local wiki work for zhwp & yuewp in 2011 January. I also work for transcript work on commons. I even work on the beta wikiversity project for zh. Totally, 32345 contributions can be found in 26 projects using global contributions tools from toolserver, and you may see I have little contributions in small wikis.
I have join the #cvn-sw & #cvn-zh-scan on freenode IRC. I have read the "global rollbackers policy" and I am fully aware that rollbacker should not use rollback function if the edit is a questionable edits or revert war.
I would happy if I get the support from you. I am zh-N, zh-hant-N, zh-hk-N, zh-tw-4, zh-cn-3, yue-N & en-2. Thank you.--Waihorace 03:12, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Global rollback for Teles
- Global user: Teles (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I've been dealing with crosswiki vandalism more actively since about two months ago. Most of them from #cvn-sw on IRC. I revert clear vandalisms or mark them to deletion and report it. In the beggining, I started watching the more experienced users' work or asking them any doubt I had. A non-local user should always interfere as little as possible on any wiki and my actions in this kind of vandalism combat is to undo clear vandalisms, nonsense, "asdf", offensive text or other similar actions. I believe I have enough experience to judge what is a blatant vandalism and what is not. I invite everyone to check my edits and give me a feedback.
My homewiki is pt.wiki, where my contributions are related with vandalism combat. I have also decided to participate of other wikis to see how they work on this area and have some experience at en.wiki, es.wiki and simple.wiki. Acting as a local rollbacker is not exactly the same that reverting crosswiki vandalism, but working on wikis with different languages and procedures helped me to understand that sometimes an edit only appears to be vandalism but it is not. I will follow this request and answer any question you might have. If I don't get the flag, it will be at least a good opportunity to improve my edits after hearing other's comments. Global sysop for Zscout370
- Global user: Zscout370 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am currently an administrator for the English Wikipedia and also the Commons. I used to have admin rights on the Chechen and Kurdish Wikipedias for the maintenance of the sites and for image work. I am requesting global sysop rights in order to work on images at the smaller Wikis, which will involve deletion mostly. The purpose is to clean up the smaller wikis of images that will have no licensing info or have been replaced by Commons images. Zscout370 02:35, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Global editinterface for Krinkle
- Global user: Krinkle (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
In order to help with the deployment of 1.17, in my sweep accross wikis, it would be very helpful if I can finetune these right away without waiting for days for to make an adjustment and then another set of days for the next adjustments (not everything can go in 1 edit). Being able to update the scripts myself will greatly speed up the process. In most cases only a single edit is needed as scripts can be ran from the console and whenever everything is fully tested the edit to the actual MediaWiki-page will be made. However in about as many cases the current scripts (which may or may not be broken) will interfer with whatever I emulate from the Console, so additional edits will be needed.
During the first window/wave the wikis involved are mostly English-speaking and have atleast a few users experienced users with CSS/JavaScript that are also sysop. However, especially next week when the smaller wikis switch, lots of wikis may not have this luxury. My plan is to get a list the most common problems by investiging and fixing the wikis from the first wave and then mostly applying and adjusting these fixes to other wikis.
I'm currently a Coder & Administrator on MediaWiki.org with commit access and wrote to several tools and contributed to gadgets such as commons:MediaWiki:AnonymousI18N.js and Real-Time Recent Changes. --–Krinkletalk 17:36, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Addihockey10
- Global user: Addihockey10 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I would like global IPBE because I use Tor to edit to keep my anonymity. I usually edit small wikis and already have IPBE on enwiki, so I'm good for enwiki but on the other wikis I am unable to edit because the MediaWiki system automatically identifies my IP (which isn't actually mine) as a tor exit node (which it is), could you mind adding the IPBE flag? Thanks! --Addihockey10 02:15, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Why not find some alternative like an unblocked proxy to edit globally, instead of this? Or even better, just using your normal IP and trusting checkusers to not abuse their tools? Ajraddatz (Talk) 05:02, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- It is not for Wikipedia actually, but for just internet usage in general. TBH I find other proxies a little harder to use and Tor just lets me surf as I normally would with Firefox. --Addihockey10 22:28, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

- Oppose I agree with the above, no need here. User should just trust CUs. Joe Gazz84 23:46, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- It may not just be about trusting CUs, but also trusting one's government (e.g. Iran) not to monitor your activities. I don't know where Addihockey10 is or exactly the reasons, but the user is certainly trusted. Aude 02:41, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support - No issues that I can see. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:28, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
* Opposed - I back Joe Gazz84 on this one and Ajraddatz on this. Use your normal IP and trust the CUs not to abuse their position. If users can't trust Checkusers, it doesn't say a whole lot for the trust put in them by us. BarkingFish 13:39, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

- Question: What exactly are the reasons/criteria for this? Is "I just want to" good enough? No idea... Seb az86556 20:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support - User is trusted. There are legit reasons for using tor, such being in countries that monitor the Internet, censor the Internet, etc. Aude 02:41, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support - No reason not to trust an otherwise OK user requesting extra anonymity. We have always liberally granted IPBE for privacy purposes just like this. It was one of the rationales behind not forcing people to find and use unblocked proxies. ⇒SWATJester Son of the Defender 06:50, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support. Valid reason for requesting global ipbe. -FASTILY (TALK) 03:13, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Valid reason for request, support. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 15:40, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Comment if you aren't in China or any other country censoring the Internet, what's the point in having an IP block exemption? Assuming you are not in such a country (since you wrote nothing of that as a reason for this request), might it not be better to follow what was proposed above - "just using your normal IP and trusting checkusers to not abuse their tools"? --MF-W 20:42, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Per Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry - the reason are confidential. Addihockey10 20:43, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
I've decided to break the knot and make a precedent here. This is a trusted user and we should AGF. If there are any signs of abuse, we can always remove it. I've Done this. --FiliP ██ 09:54, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
