Our community collaborates with individuals, organizations, and institutions to promote free knowledge and Wikimedia projects. The community seeks to amplify its impact by fostering partnerships, expanding outreach, and engaging diverse audiences in the greater Chattogram region and beyond.

Capturing the Essence of the University of Chittagong Through the Lens

Our community, in collaboration with the University of Chittagong, organized two photowalks aimed at documenting the architectural splendour, institutional heritage, and vibrant campus life of the largest university in Bangladesh. Spanning an expansive 2,312.32 acres, the University of Chittagong provided a rich canvas for this initiative.

Held on May 13 and May 22, 2015, the photowalk resulted in the archival of over 700 images on Wikimedia Commons under a Creative Commons license. Impressively, more than 50 of these images were recognized with Quality Image and Valued Image status on Wikimedia Commons. Furthermore, 19.12% of the photographs are currently using various Wikimedia projects, showcasing the university’s legacy to a global audience.

This collaboration exemplifies the community’s dedication to preserving cultural and educational heritage through open knowledge platforms.

Strengthening Bonds Through Bengali–German Cultural Exchange Project

The Bengali–German Cultural Exchange Project is a knowledge-sharing and collaborative initiative between the Bengali and German Wikimedia communities, born out of discussions between the Chattogram Wikipedia Community and WikiMUC. This long-term partnership aims to bridge cultural and content gaps by having Wikimedians from both communities translate key articles from their respective languages, thus promoting cultural exchange. The project strives to strengthen the diversity of Wikimedia projects, such as Wikipedia, by reducing content gaps related to both Bangladesh and Germany. Through this collaboration, participants not only contribute to the enrichment of both cultures on Wikimedia platforms but also learn from each other about community building, engagement, and technical skills, fostering long-lasting cooperation and mutual growth.
