CampaignEvents

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The CampaignEvent Extension is a powerful tool designed to enhance the management and visibility/discoverability of events within Wikimedia. This extension introduces a suite of features aimed at making event organization and participation easy and effective.

The CampaignEvent Extension provides several key functionalities:

Event Registration Tool

[edit]

The Event Registration Tool allows campaign organizers to manage event registrations directly on the wiki. This tool simplifies the process of tracking attendees, managing registration details, emailing registered participants, interaction with the Programs and Event dashboard and lots more.

Collaboration List

[edit]

The Collaboration List is a global list of all events that use Event Registration and a list of all WikiProjects on the local wiki, making it easier for people to find opportunities to collaborate and connect with other contributors on the wikis

Invitation List

[edit]

The Invitation List is a tool designed to help organizers identify users who might be interested in joining their projects or events. It works by looking at a list of articles that an organizer plans to focus on during an activity, and then it finds users to invite based on the following criteriaː bytes they contributed to the articles, the number of edits they made to the articles, their overall edit count on the wikis, and how recently they have edited the wikis.

Future Enhancements

[edit]

The CampaignEvent Extension is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for the integration of additional tools to support campaign organizers and participants. One such tool currently in development is Invitation Lists. This tool will help organizers by suggesting potential participants who might be interested in their upcoming events, further improving engagement and attendance.
