Meta:Administrators/Removal (inactivity)

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Shortcut:
WM:A/R
This page concerns the process by which Meta administrators are removed for inactivity, as mandated by prescribed criteria. It was created in response to discussion at Meta talk:Administrators/confirm—see here—and replaces the former administrator confirmation process.

The next formal administrator review takes place on: April 1, 2025

Removal criteria

  1. Administrators who have made fewer than ten edits in the six months immediately prior to the designated removal date (April 1 or October 1) are desysopped without notice.
  2. Administrators who have made more than ten edits but fewer than ten actions requiring admin privileges (remember, this includes edits to protected pages, etc.) in the same period are given a week to indicate they would like to retain their access. Users in this category are to be notified on the first day, and adminship is removed without notice on the seventh day if there is no response.
  3. Administrators who are desysopped also lose bureaucrat, interface administrator and CentralNotice administrator rights, if they have them, but not translation administrator rights.
  4. Interface administrators who are not also local administrators lose their access if they fail to make at least 10 global edits in the last 6 months. This is to be checked every April 1 and October 1 as well.
  5. CentralNotice administrators that are not Meta-Wiki administrators will automatically lose the permission if they have not made any edit or logged action for which this permission is required in the last 12 months immediately prior to the designated review date (October 1).
  6. Any translation administrator inactive on Meta will have their translationadmin user right removed. "Inactivity" is defined as total inactivity (no edits or logged actions) in the past two years. This is to be checked every April 1 and October 1.
