Grants:IdeaLab/Find Terminology from Concept

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Find Terminology from Concept
I often forget terminologies, but can easily recall the concept. So, when I need to read more, or cite somewhere about the concept, I often fails after exhaustive search through Search-Engines. For example, the terms like Deja Vu, kinematic chain, Mobius strip , etc. Now, when I already know about the concept, but forget the terminology (n.b. it is not always possible to write-down the concept in notebook/ find-out the term from personal notebooks). So, what could be done, several new search-tool could be developed, which can

1. "interrogate" the user. Such as, i. the computer may ask to select the areas in-which the concept may belong , then ii. may ask different features of the object; the user could select options like Yes, No, May-be, Couldn't be answered, etc. Gradually the computer will shorten the areas User is searching for.

2. The database can host a 'Conceptual-definition'. One way to do this, is, manually including some hidden tags or keywords, or a list-of properties. for-example, in case of Mobius-strip, keywords like 'paper with one-surface only' , 'surface with one face only', 'ring', etc. This will help the search engines to filter-out irrelevant results.

What is the problem you're trying to solve?

[edit]

I often forget terminologies, but can easily recall the concept. So, when I need to read more, or cite somewhere about that concept, I often fails after exhaustive search through Search-Engines.

What is your solution?

So, what could be done, several new search-tool could be developed, which can

1. "interrogate" the user. Such as, i. the computer may ask to select the areas in-which the concept may belong , then ii. may ask different features of the object; the user could select options like Yes, No, May-be, Couldn't be answered, etc. Gradually the computer will shorten the areas/ leave that area and enter into new area, etc, to find the term User is searching for.
