Purpose and background

WMF has several different grants programs. You may read about each type of program or read about the mission of WMF grantmaking. In order send funds to grantees to do their projects, WMF has some systems in place to administer our grants. After a grant request is received, a compliance check is conducted by the Grants Administration team while the Program Officers and Program Committees review the project proposal. After a grant request is approved for funding additional screening and/or documents may be required to process the new grant award for grant agreement signing and to ensure that payments are successfully sent by WMF and received by the grantee. While a grant is in progress and after a grant is complete, we help make sure that reporting requirements are met and have all the information WMF needs to know that grant funds were used according to what is written in the grant agreement and grant programs policy pages.
