Admin Abuse

edit

Dan, A group of editors and admins refuse to allow a balance of material and links. Gamaliel, Robert McClenon, Jpgordon, JamesMLane, and a few others now own the pages. Any attempts to modify the page is met by thier gang edits. They allow only links to pro kennedy sites, none to negative sites regardless of the wealth of content they may provide. They push their pov on all of the Kennedy pages. It's because of editors and admins like these that Wikipedia is doubted as a source. ie; the New York Times published policy against Wiki as a source. The group refuses to agree to consensus when it is against them. I've now been blocked by Jpgordon in an abuse of admin priv. My act was not vandalism, it's simply not agreeing with their one sided pov. I am not willing to endure any more arb or mediation. These guys are out of control. 24.147.103.146 05:45, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

I agree--I would like to add my experiences regarding administrative abuses of blocking powers by Administrator (sysop) "Jtdirl". Please read the following:

Dear Sir:

I have a problem with "Jtdirl", he is blocking me whenever I log on using my Username. It is some kind of an autoblock--because it sets in as soon as I log in as soon as I attempt to edit anything.

The reason given is "sockupuppet vandal", but how can I be a sockpuppet if I am using my personal Username and how can I be a vandal--a term Jtdirl and his ilk (including Demiurge) use very lightly--if I have not even edited anything that can be reviewed and determined, since each block is only a 24-hour block, which then becomes a new 24-hour block once I attempt to sign in??

Demiurge also goes around behind my back and deleted my work product when I add names to lists or categories such as "Irish-Scots", "Roman Catholic politicians", and "Roman Catholics". Why do these categories exist if one cannot update them. The reason Demiurge gives in the update edit summary is "Categories"--an unintelligible response. It is not a question of a factual inaccuracy--it is a policy of censorship by both "Jtdirl" and "Demiurge". If they dislike these categories so much why don't they submit them for deletion--because they know that they obviously they would lose that battle.

I do not want to have to contact Jimmy Wales as I believe in the policy of going to the lower echelons of power before trying to contact the highest. This is common sense and I accept that. I do not own my own computer, which is why so many IPs have been attributed to me as "sock puppets", but they are not. They are computers I use at the library or rent hourly at different sites, including Kinko's which is very expensive ($18/00.hr). I know I should get my own computer and I probably will this year, but that's beside the point.

Every time Demiurge goes behind my back and deletes my work product it means my time and money have been spent for nothing.

They are forcing me to edit anonymously since everytime I sign in as "[email protected]" I get autoblocked for no good reason. If I felt I deserved it for misconduct I would hardly be contacting you. Editing anonymously gives me an air of disrepute and irresponsibility which I do not want.

Jtdirl and Demiurge are abusing their privileges and powers and need to be stopped. Perhaps they should have been patrolling the Siegenthaler and Meehan pages rather than selectively censor their pet topics.

Thanks for your attention.

I would be glad to discuss the policy for giving check user access on irc with you. There were rules for giving such access and rules should be followed or rules should be just put in trash.

Here : http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CheckUser_Policy

Community must approve at least two CheckUsers per consensus. Activity will be checked mutually. The user requesting check user status must request it within his local community and advertise this request properly (village pump, mailing list when available, ...). The editor must be familiar with the privacy policy. After gaining consensus (70%-80%) in his local community, with at least 25-30 editors approval, the user should list himself under Requests for permissions with a link to the page with the community's decision.

I saw no such vote on pt.

De-adminship because of violation of "administration ethics"

Could you confirm this checkuser?

It has been alleged by n:User:Amgine that n:User:Yrtsihpos is a sockpuppet n:User:Neutralizer. Amgine claims that you told him on IRC that a checkuser confrimed his suspicion. Given the fact that Yrtsihpos does not appear to a sockpuupet, as far as his editting goes, and the fact that Amgine had issues with Neutralizer in the past, could you look into the matter? Thanks. Hi, I have made a couple of changes to the "Music" section of the CSHS website to remove personal references made to me by a student (Fiona Cunningham) who bares a personal grudge. I also improved the accuracy of the information contained therein, and then corrected spelling errors. Looking back at the page I find that now the address I am accessing the site from has been blocked. I have improved the accuracy of the entry and removed personal opinion from it. Hopefully that is not reason to be blocked. Glenn Robinson HOD: Music CSHS

Admin abuse

edit

Hi, i would like to ask to review the actions and contributions of user:Jayjg he frequently makes controversial edits which is his right but then deals with resulting edit wars in a disruptive and abusive manner. If his controversial edits get reverted he will attempt to harass editors who reverting. He treats his admin priviliges as if they meant he is above every and any rule or policy. He will deal with any opposing POV with brute force, auto reverting, blocking instead of discussion. He violates the following guide on adminship:

"Adminship is not diplomatic immunity Every administrator must keep in mind that admins are servants of Wikipedia as a whole. This means that all policies apply to admins just as they do to any user. Admins can be blocked, stripped of admin powers, or banned. Admins must follow all Wikipedia policies, such as the three-revert rule, and uphold consensus and a neutral point of view." I ask you to keep a close eye on him and prevent any future abuse and edit warring. Especially abusive edit warring using administrative tools provided to him for fighting vandals, not POV battles.

How can I remove a mistakenly made page?

I'm sorry if this is not the right forum for such things, but i would like you to remove an entry for 'Hirsholmerne' (Danish islands). It was a page I created, but I made a mistake in the spelling (it should have read Hirsholmene'). I have rectified it, as much as I could, but I was unable to remove the said page. On a side note, I found a Danish language page for them 8the islands) which was far superior to my english language version, I don't know if wikipedia has a policy on linking different language pages. I appreciate any help/suggestions you may have, as I would so like to try and improve my techniques and practices on wikipedia and contribute as positively as I can. Están haciendo la pelota a mucha gente y no permiten el proyecto plural. Interven, y no permitas que me tengan bloqueado, ya está bien. Hello Rdsmith4, I need help with a complaint. I have made a list of image pages missing any license information, and a list of images pages duplicated at commons, and put this list on the user talk pages of the users who uploaded them, asking them to take proper care. One user has responsibility for many % of the copyvios on that wiki, but is sysop, and the talk page is protected, and so one cannot talk to them. I made a subpage under this talk page, with the list, it is here: ksh:Metmaacher Klaaf:Jüppsche/Images - Duplication, and Missing Licensing Information. Now I need a person with right, wo can write in the talk page and put the list there. Thank you. Global account help for ArielGold

edit

Hi. I seek your help with this issue. Hopefully you can help somehow. The en.wiki user en:User:ArielGold recently unified her account. See her SUL listing here. She has been successful on all wikis except the ms.wiki (Malay). There are two crats on ms.wiki, ms:Perbincangan_Pengguna:Yosri and ms:Perbincangan_Pengguna:Aurora (Yosri and Aurora's talk pages). They both speak English. See the threads here: ms:Perbincangan_Pengguna:Yosri#Crat_to_crat_help and ms:Perbincangan_Pengguna:Aurora#SUL_crat_help. There is also some talk on my ms.wiki talk page here: ms:Perbincangan_Pengguna:Rlevse#ArielGold. The original ms.wiki user was blocked as a vandal (obviously not the same person as the real ArielGold). The two ms.wiki crats have tried to help. However, every time they do something, the real ArielGold still can't log in. It should be as simple as the crats renaming the account and her simply logging in, but it never works. The two crats also seem to recreate the ArielGold ms.wiki user page. Is there anything you can do to help her? The home user talk page is on en.wiki here: en:User_talk:ArielGold. Here is the ms.wiki account listing: [4]. These crats are clearly okay with this, but looking back over it and talking with RyanPostlethwaite, it appears though they said they renamed it, all they keep doing is deleting the page. Can you just rename it for ArielGold and tell her it's done on her en.wiki talk page and email her so she gets the news right away? Thanks. RlevseTalk 21:24, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much! Whatever you did fixed it. Last night, I tried again, and it would not allow me to log in with my SUL, but I was able to do so just now. What I don't understand, is why another account titled ArielGold (SUL) was created, and the main username was redirected to that. (See history here, and the account listing showing yet another new account from last night. I went ahead and tagged the SUL name as well, but it seems like that's not the proper format for a unified login on another Wiki, as none of my other accounts have that (SUL) following their name. I'd say that account could be safely nuked, if needed. :) Thanks again! ArielGold 21:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is one account that was edited and filled with some data. That user has not edited his account since the 21st December 2005, the same day he opened his account. Furthermore, he has made only 5 edits in total. I opened my account on the Croatian Wikipedia on the 3rd May 2005 and I have made 1128 edits since then. According to Help:SUL I have the superior claim on this username, so I am asking you if you could help me in merging these accounts with mine, so I could have global account. Thanking you in advance. --Conquistador (talk) 01:58, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

steward handbook

edit

I added a section on communicating with [other] stewards to the page; where do you think it fits into the pageflow? It occurs to me that there's no public place to see or engage in discussions with stewards or about the process / outstanding requests. -- sj | help translate | 03:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Help on Oriya Wikipedia

edit

Hello. I'm a new contributor on Oriya Wikipedia (its a very small one). I've adding new pages and stubs. But there's no way to link them from main page. The only way to access them is via 'random article' link or searching for it. There's a serious need for adding the link to a contents page on the Main page. Also the main page requires some serious editing for grammatical mistakes. I could find no local sysops to deal with it. So I'm contacting you. Hope you're able to help. Thanks in advance. -- Coldbreeze16 11:29, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Spam accounts

edit

Hello, thanks for your help locking those spammers. Regarding Desiphral, he is indeed the only sysop on rmywiki. See Wikimedia_Forum/Archives/2009-07#The_Vlax_Romani_Wikipedia_and_its_compromised_admin for more info. Don't know if any action is warranted right now unless he spammed on rmywiki also. Hello, after 5 months I removed your CU status on hu.wiki. I removed it, because it looked like a temporary access. LeinaD (t) 10:52, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hey. Looking at your contributions, it seems you're as inactive as I thought you were. I hope you're enjoying whatever's been keeping you distracted. :-) And, of course, I hope you'll return at some point; we could always use your brand of sanity and sense. it.Brancusi and en.Brancusi

edit

Hello, I'm an italian wiki user. My user name is Brancusi. I am a Wikipedia user since January 10, 2007. On March 07, 2011 I did the global account. I've seen that there is a user named Brancusi like me on en.wikipedia that has been registered since October 26, 2007, but with no edit. I would like to add that account to my Brancusi global account. I read that I have to ask to an english Bureaucrat to obtain it. So I ask you. The English Brancusi account is an inactive account. You could rename it so that I can add en.Brancusi to my global account? Thanks in advance for your answer, my best regards. --Brancusi 18:02, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Problem completely solved: sorry for thist useless message :) --Brancusi 00:44, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, since we have licensed other 3rd party material, we are unable to do a CC license. Are you open to providing permissions for us to use this image in our doc? Pls let me know if you'd like to get more details. I can be found at rivkahbeth at hot mail {dot} com. thanks for your attention and great photo! Rivkahbeth 23:02, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
