Closing as a request that is not going to pass under any circumstances. Matttest, please do not be discouraged, this permission is easily granted to people that are already active in Small Wiki Monitoring Team's activities to deal with vandalism, and all you have to do is to be active at this for a while already so that we know that you actually need the permissions. Feel free to reapply in several months when you are more active. --Base (talk) 09:54, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello! I actively participate in the fight against Cross-wiki Vandalism and have rejected dozens of malicious edits every day and frequently use SWViewer and SWMT members. - A little too fast? In most wikis I checked, you just started reverting on 3 Nov. In addition, your account is just 9 months old and you just gain meta patroller a few days ago. And some local sysop just recently caught a false positive of your revert, i.e. you reverted wrongly. You have been doing good work these few days, I hope you can continue and say 3 months later you will be a much better candidate. Thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:29, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Sorry, this is unacceptable, you had been involved in an edit war, and the IP was correct here, you are reverting proper expansion of content (multiple times). This is vandalism already. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:51, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Regretfully. [1], [2], [3] So many bad reverts and just started patrolling 10 days ago. Please do not revert where you do not know the language unless it is obvious vandalism. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:43, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Global rollback for Yahya
- Global user: Yahya (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi I'm Yahya. Recently I got rollback flag on enwiki. After that I realised I actually need global rollback flag. I also have rollback flag on bnwiki and have a long experience of fighting against vandalism there. I also active in reverting cross-wiki vandalism. I'm a member of the SWMT and I use SWViewer and Twinkle-Global. Thanks to all in advance for the comments.—YAHYA 11:57, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

- This is an incorrect undo, and 7 days after getting English rollback, and this history where the IP editor seems right (they are adding content that is legit, but the header is spoilt, given them as an IP, what I will do is to revert them with a summary telling them what is wrong or rather, fix the lv3 header for them rather than revert back) makes me hesitate. You have been doing good work, keep it up, but I think some more time of active xwiki reverting might be better. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:04, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Weak oppose Although most of your reverts are good, but many of them such as CM pointed plus [4] (recent one), [5] seems wrong. I am not listing many that are not obvious vandalism but you still reverted them. Also, most of your xwiki activity only spans to the last 2-3 months, so I am not confident enough that you have the necessary experience right now. A word of advice, please don't revert where you do not know the language unless it is obvious vandalism. Keep up the good work. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 12:30, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

- @Yahya: Don't be discourage, keep on reverting clear vandalism, I can see you are on the right track, just omit those unclear ones in the SWViewer queue, you will be a very good candidate here after 2-3 months. Thanks so much for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:50, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Superpes15. I'm a member of the SWMT and I use SWViewer and Twinkle-Global to revert x-wiki vandalism. Unfortunately my edits are sometimes prevented by the abuse-filter or captcha. Global rollback for Karam06

Hi all. I'd like to request global rollback to better help with combating vandalism and long term abuse across multiple projects. Karam06 (talk) 07:30, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose sorry, but your global account is less than two months old, you have less than 1500 edits globally, and no rollback rights on any of the 5 projects you've edited (each of those projects has a local group with rollback rights). Generally, global rollbackers should have experience with rollback rights, and be active with cross wiki vandalism and/or patrolling small wikis (Small Wiki Monitoring Team). --DannyS712 (talk) 07:37, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

- Let me encourage you, I feel that there's enough opposes. I am glad to see you asking for the right, however, the global community will need to see track record which demonstrate that you are safe enough to hold such advanced rights. First, join SWMT and patrol crosswiki more often, and only revert when you are sure if you don't speak the language (i.e. clear vandalism), afterwhich, for some larger wikis you might ask for local rollback rights if you are undo/reverting there often, then after say 6 months later, check in here and with a good record, I think we will not hesitate to support you. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:32, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

Requests for global sysop permissions
Global sysop for Atcovi
- Global user: Atcovi (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi. I wanted to request the global sysop rights a couple of weeks from now rather than at this time in order to fully ensure that I will be active from now on - but upon urges from some well-established colleagues, this and this, I've came to the conclusion that it is better for me to request my global sysop rights back. There is simply a lot of cleanup that needs to be done in a lot of wikis that I would love to help out in. I've also thought carefully about my activity and I can assure all of my fellow editors that I've officially returned back to standard activity. I hereby request the community's trust again for the global sysop toolkit. Thanks! —Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 02:01, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

- Weak support They certainly have a need for the tools, but otherwise I mirror CptViraj's concerns. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 04:24, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- Strong support Why wait for 2-3 weeks where they are already trusted, and they voluntarily give up their tool. If we are to convince people to do so rather than hang on to their tools by doing the bare minimum (and inflate the number of rights owners), we need to make the getting back of the tools easy. I will think something like voluntarily giving up can be given back within a couple of months per a simple request not a vote will be good, but my 2 cents only. It will be much different if someone was to be removed for inactivity and coming back immediately to ask back the tools, that's not too good. Thanks for volunteering.Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:19, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

Global sysop for Wiki13
- Global user: Wiki13 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I have been thinking about requesting this for some time already, but I chose to wait for a bit more to make sure I am able to maintain a decent activity level. I have been global sysop 2 times before (see the chart on the Global sysop page). Both times I gave them up voluntarily due to time constraints. Back then time management was a problem for me, but that's something I have worked on these past years. In regards to activity you can frequently find my name on the Global sysops/Requests page. As also mentioned in Atcovi request for global sysop, there is a lot of work that falls on the shoulders on the global sysops, especially considering the diminishing number of global sysops that are active recently. I would like to help wherever I can to keep the projects a nice place without the spam and vandalism. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer them. The user is a student who currently studies in mainland China; therefore, they may use proxy to visit Wikipedia. They have made several edits and want to be responsible for their edits so as to steer clear of any unintended errors (for example misspellings). Global IP block exempt for Il Gatto Obeso
- Global user: Il Gatto Obeso (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I just bought a VPN in order to resist the "surveillance pandemic". However, they won't let me edit unless VPN is turned off, since "all open proxies are bad and allegedly used by spammers". In my opinion, this policy harms users and their safety. I'm mainly a user of Italian Wikipedia editing from my home country, simply asking for privacy. Is there an easier way to protect my own privacy while editing Wikimedia project, preferably without asking stewards? Thanks, --Il Gatto Obeso (talk) 21:32, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Not done @Il Gatto Obeso: Our long-term experience is that the majority of edits coming from open proxies are vandalism or abuse. Hence, no open proxies policy was introduced long time ago, and it prohibits editing from open proxies unless there is a credible reason to grant an exemption from that policy. Your IP address (as well as other identifying information) is protected by Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy, and is not accessed except in limited circumstances.
- Your request does not present any credible reason to edit from open proxies. Consequently, I do not see any need for you to be granted the exemption.
- Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:25, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for DPLA bot
- Global user: DPLA bot (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
My Commons upload bot, which has uploaded hundreds of thousands of files to Wikimedia Commons this year, has been unable to edit due to a global block by Jon Kolbert on 52.200.0.0/16 (Amazon AWS servers). The bot has a legitimate need to use the AWS server in order to operate continuously from the cloud, so I think it needs a gIPBE to continue editing. Thanks! Dominic (talk) 15:46, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Fixed formatting. -- CptViraj (talk) 15:54, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Artoria2e5
- Global user: Artoria2e5 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I have IPBE on zhwp and enwp, but it turns out to be insufficient as I have recently switched to a more open proxy (20.194.0.0/18) that is globally blocked. Before I can pay for my old proxy, I will need one month of global IPBE for editing Wikidata at a non-super-slow speed. 3q谢谢。--Artoria2e5 (talk) 03:02, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- Artoria2e5, Done, please note that you might still need the local excemptions in some wikis where you do not already have it if they have local block on the range as well. --Base (talk) 09:00, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for 和时间赛跑
- Global user: 和时间赛跑 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
The aforesaid user comes from China and has to access Wikimedia projects through proxies. I communicated with them via email, and granted them local IPBE on Chinese Wikipedia, but they also wants to edit other projects like English Wikipedia. The proxy IP is globally blocked including meta so I'm requesting GIPBE here for them. If more (private) info is needed, I would ask them to directly contact stewards via mail list. --WhitePhosphorus (talk) 11:20, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

I see that we're having backlog at Special:GlobalRenameQueue, so I would like to volunteer and help out. I'm a global rollbacker, abuse filter helper and a sysop on Commons. I've some clerking experience on enwiki's local venue. If promoted, I will help on global requests, enwiki and Commons (It doesn't have local request page but if someone will ask on my/their talkpage). Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 13:35, 18 October 2020 (UTC) Update: I won't perform renames on requests at Commons but will refer them to meta or the queue as per the local policy. -- CptViraj (talk) 16:04, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

- Strong support This is what I deemed as a valid Global permission request. There is a clear demonstrated commitment to the movement as a whole and they are trusted as a commons sysop. They are active in username arena and their language skills will be useful. In addition, I keep on advocate for wikis sysops to apply for this, as it's a relatively risk free permission (unless if someone is like a bull in a china shop and do things without thinking / comprehending the entire situation - however, such users are quite rare). I will say commons sysop tool should include global renamer too (however, I know this will be opposed). Thanks for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 15:40, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

CAPTCHA exemptions for Vova WIFI
- Global user: Vova WIFI (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I work in some other sections where I don't have "skipcaptcha"rights yet. I have ~1650 edits in ruwiki. I am engaged in nominating files for renaming in the German and Ukrainian sections, as well as correcting links, which triggers the CAPTCHA check. I will not add spam to articles. Thanks, Vova WIFI (talk) 11:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Vova WIFI: you've become autoconfirmed on ukwiki and dewiki, are you still having this problem there? — xaosflux Talk 14:45, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- In one of the two sections above, I get (or received) a CAPTCHA even when setting the template. Anyway, I'm always looking for new wiki projects where I can make a difference. Not done. Vova WIFI, I know you are trying to be helpful, but the correct solution for you in this case is to just work in the wikis you already have autoconfirmed in and autocreate accounts in other wikis you plan to work in in advance. Collecting a hat, on the other hand, is not the correct solution. This permission is reserved to cases with strong rationale. Hypothetical examples of when I would not have problems giving this permission would be a bot operating in its user space only on multiple wikis or a blind user. Full disclosure, we also communicated about this request with the user on Discord, but it was not in form of canvassing. --Base (talk) 09:46, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Base: there is one small problem. In these two projects, I have already done what I could and wanted to do. And other projects? I'm not a collector, of course, but a rights would make my life a lot easier. I don't really know German. What can I do? Remove duplicate https and duplicate categories. Vova WIFI (talk) 10:22, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Vova WIFI, you are already autoconfirmed on both Ukrainian and German Wikipedias and thus have local
skipcaptcha
permissions. You will encounter several wikis like Norwegian or Spanish Wikipedias that also require some edits to become autoconfirmed, but there are several hundred wikis you can focus on first. --Base (talk) 10:36, 3 November 2020 (UTC)- @Base: unfortunately, there are only 30 wikis on checrwiki. Moreover, there are disadvantages not everywhere-the projects are too small. Vova WIFI (talk) 10:40, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- You can look for problems with the regular search. For example, here are duplicate "https://"s for trwiki: [6]. You can refer to mw:Help:CirrusSearch for help on how to use search. --Base (talk) 10:59, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

Global Abuse filter helpers for WikiBayer
- Global user: WikiBayer (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I apply for this right so that I can search logbooks easier and faster. As Meta Admin I can access logs of global filters, but I can only do this in GSwikis and Meta itself. If I want to access logbook entries e.g. in, cswikisource, frwikinews or enwikiquote. I always have to search the complete logbook with all wikis to access the entries. This is impractical and complicates my work unnecessarily. I often use Special:AbuseFilter/233, Special:AbuseFilter/72, Special:AbuseFilter/69 and other filter with private logs.--𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 09:27, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
