Can You Find The Area?
Including the middle bit 🏮
I have decided that I am going to add a bonus 24 game at the end of each puzzle. This should give you some extra brain workout 🧠
Can you elegantly find the solution to this?
I recommend you pause the article, grab your pen and paper, and give this a go. When you are ready, keep reading for the solution! ✒️
Solution
Adding the areas of the 3 circles and the middle part together works here.
But we will try a neater approach instead.
We know each angle is 60 degrees in an equilateral triangle.
That means each sector is of 300 degrees
Let’s find the area of the triangle first. Given the radius of the circles is 2, the length of each side of the triangle must be 2 2 = 4.
I don’t remember the formula for the area of an equilateral triangle. Instead we can use A = 1/2(a)(b)(sin(c)).
