I recognize most peers of my cohort from LinkedIn. And I can sort of see a pattern. You know the quantity and quality of opportunities they get in relation to their immutable characteristics.

And it’s beyond obvious because if you look at the pictures, you start to realize what the mainstream media tells us about higher education, STEM, internships and work opportunities kinda contradicts reality. It’s conjured up and fabricated.

Isn’t it really absurd to know that we do the same course but some people will keep stacking their resume and while others will sink to the bottomless crevasse competing for scraps?

And we all know how it is. All these interviews and selection processes are not merely there to find the ‘right’ candidates, rather they are there to reject the majority of applicants.

It’s simple economics. It’s scarcity. The demand for desired jobs far outweighs the supply.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I don’t really get excited about university or these so-called ‘workshops’, ‘networking events’.

I think most of these societies or clubs are pointless.
