Support Wizard 🧙♂️ Our team identified a bottleneck in our workflow: manually entering #Teams messages into #Jira. Although Atlassian Jira is an excellent tool for managing service desk tasks, often users prefer not to use it directly, opting instead for emails, direct messages, or even phone calls. As our company utilizes Microsoft products, we initially created a special "IT support" channel within #Teams, encouraging all users to log their tasks there. This integration between Jira and Teams improved the situation, yet manual issue creation in Jira, synchronizing comments, updating users about status changes, and managing conversations in closed topics (especially when new requests are initiated within old threads) remained labor-intensive. To address this, we developed a "Teams <-> Jira sync bot," fully automating the process. Now, all users' requests and comments are automatically logged as issues in Jira, complete with all details and labels. Users also receive automatic updates via Teams on status changes. This sync bot increased our operational efficiency by saving time, improving task tracking, and streamlining communication.
