With the financial support of the European Commission through the Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), UNICEF and IOM - UN Migration in the Republic of #Moldova have played a pivotal role in assisting the Moldovan government to develop and adopt crucial decisions and regulations, enhancing child protection and social assistance frameworks. #UNICEF has positively impacted the lives of approximately 59,000 children and their caregivers, including refugees, providing higher-quality child #protection and social services. #IOM has rehabilitated three playgrounds and equipped two schools, fostering social cohesion among thousands of local and Ukrainian children. More than 3,400 #refugees have received emergency #healthcare, 407 people have received job counselling sessions, and 20 entrepreneurs have benefited from grants. The M. Lomonosov Lyceum is the high school in the municipality of Balti, #Moldova, with the largest number of Ukrainian students. Yesterday, over 700 Lomonosov Lyceum students in Balti received an IOM - UN Migration-renovated sports hall from the U.S. Government, during an handover attended by Daniela DiPierro, Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, Lars Johan Lönnback, IOM Moldova’s Chief of Mission, and local authorities. As part of the continuous commitment to enhance #healthcare services and support #cancercare initiatives in the Republic of #Moldova, #IOM delivered treatment supplies, supportive care materials, diagnostic equipment, and biopsy tools to the Oncology Institute. The donated equipment, worth EUR 30,000, will improve the assistance to #Ukrainianrefugees, #migrants, and Moldovan citizens in detecting #breastcancer and #cervicalcancer. Today, 51 laptops worth EUR 50,000 and office supplies bags were donated by the European Commission within a #EU funded projected implemented by IOM - UN Migration in the Republic of #Moldova, to the specialists recently hired by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (#MLSP) with the aim of strengthening the Ministry's efforts to assist Moldovans, #refugees and third-country nationals victims of violent crimes as part of the RESTART reform. The handover ceremony was attended by the MLSP Minister, Alexei Buzu, Viorica Țîmbalari, Director of the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Family Violence (#ANPCV), Damien Fresnel, the Head of IOM Moldova’s Programmes, and the ministry's specialists who received the new equipment to ensure their immediate and efficient operational commitment in the ten Territorial Social Assistance Agencies, in Chișinău, and in the ATU Găgăuzia.
