Stick, a few comments so far after playing for approximately 1/2 hour:
- Controls feel a bit clunky with a very slight lag in directional changes. This could be my keyboard or connection issues but worth looking into for later releases.
- A suggestion to include a settings menu that can bind keystrokes to movement and bombs. I have a personal preference to use the right mouse button for movement by point and click to the ground, and left mouse button for firing on these sorts of games. Allowing players to bind their keystrokes would be a definite plus.
- Death is quick when being touched by the enemy. Would be nice to have a shield option giving you a chance to get away.
- Being killed by your own bombs can be frustrating as I couldn't get away fast enough. This is related to my first comment and could just be me. A suggestion to maybe have 3 way directional fire based on the way the OzBomber is facing, with backwards firing disabled avoiding suicides.
- Not sure what the red ball powerup was meant to do, but walking over it didn't seem to do anything. I assume it's a powerup.
- Sometimes upon death there are 2 OzBombers, one on top of the other, with the top one sometimes floating and surviving, even if the bottom one is killed. The floating character is cool but I am sure is a bug.
- No clipping issues around the perimeters or internal barriers.
- I note music has just been added. Extra music content never hurts to provide a bit of variety for the player.
So far so good Stick. Keep up the good work. I'll keep playing during my breaks over the coming days and let you know anything else I find.
Regards,
Rob
Thanks mate, will definitely have a settings menu soon. Shield, hmm could be a good powerup idea. Not sure about the 3 way fire, think I'll try the shield powerup first. The red ball will be the time boost powerup when the timer is implemented. The 2 player spawns is a bug (although the float is kinda cool).
Music, once I add a few more levels (including very dark ones) I'll try to find something else. About to drop a new build with UI updates and more particles (I love how the smoke turned out).
Thanks for the comments, so good to get someone else's perspective :)
