During his remarks, our Chairman and CEO, Mr. Mostafa Terrab, emphasized that #FoodSecurity and a green revolution in #Africa will depend on the continent's ability to produce its own fertilizers while using the right fertilizers to boost productivity. Mr. Terrab stated: “Based on our recent experience, we are convinced that Africa is embarking on a true green revolution, but we are also equally convinced that the accelerator to this is Africa being able to produce its own fertilizers based on its abundant natural resources.” Thank you to all participants, panelists, and attendees for their invaluable contributions and engagement. At the FAO #GlobalSoilPartnership Partners Day, OCP Group advocates for #SoilHealth as a cornerstone of a just agricultural transition towards sustainable food production and #ClimateAction. During our Side Event opening remarks, Meriem El Asraoui, our Chief Global Affairs Officer, underscored the pivotal role of healthy #soils in nourishing the world's population and combating #ClimateChange. Ms. El Asraoui emphasized: "With 40% of the world’s land degraded and a growing population, improving #SoilHealth is crucial for enhancing food production sustainably and sequestering carbon. Soil nutrition serves as a link between food security and climate action, aligning with SDGs 2 and 13." Leonardus Vergütz, Chief Innovation Officer at OCP Group, described how customized nutrients enrich soils, microorganisms, plants, and communities globally. He explained: “Healthy soils are imperative. Effective nutrient management preserves soil health and boosts carbon storage. Africa, with its vast low-fertility soils, has the potential to lead in CO2 capture." "At OCP Group, we recognize that there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. Our innovative endeavors, spanning from precision agriculture to microbial solutions, empower farmers. Let's break the cycle of poverty, enhance crop yields, and safeguard our planet. Africa can emerge as a sustainable agricultural powerhouse, nourishing the world," stated Dr. Vergütz. #GSP #SoilHealth #WaterScarcity #SustainableAgriculture #SoilScience #Innovation #AgricultureTransformation #FAO
