Motivation
editWe already have itch.io URL (P7294), but it was made for games. While the URL format used by itch.io made us use a complete URL for that property (so it would work to reuse if for company/dev profile), this is not practical for several reasons. First, we can't apply constraints on that property, as it do create side effects. I did fix a few existing items where a bot did add a distributed by (P750) property erronously. We are also forced to loosen the regexp to verify the property, since it can be a game or a company, the difference being that a game has a format foo.itch.io/bar while a dev only use foo.itch.io.
Having a separate property seems better, since we would be able to check that a game with itch.io URL (P7294) is linked to a company with a matching itch.io profile, either as editor or as dev. We would avoid bots side effects, and this would be cleaner so we could check instance of (P31) and use simpler regexp. Misc (talk) 20:43, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
