BEFORE YOU COMMENT!!
There's been rumblings of too much non-pedia discussion around here, so, in best interest of that, if you want to tell me something personal, or just plain off-topic, send me a PM OR visit the new Bulbapedia Discussion Forum, instead of commenting here.
BTW...tired of waiting for a new Pokémon game just to tackle some new gyms? Then bring it on.
I'm watching you... |

Project:MoveDex
Could I update the Bulbapedia:Project MoveDex page? It looks like a bit of a mess at the moment and I don't think users know what they're looking at for a template. I was thinking of rearranging it so that we have a section first of what it should look like in the edit box and out of the edit box, with each section described. Unown template
Is it more useful than the Arceus one or should I move/put it up for deletion as well Template:Sprite/4/28formes--MisterE13 18:56, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- no, we dont need that. our Unown template is fine. if you want to keep that one for yourself you do that, then tell me, and ill delete it. -- MAGNEDETH 18:58, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I moved it, could you please recreate the Arceus one and post on my page so I can move it.--MisterE13 00:05, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

User is abusing the userspace, already received 3 warnings for over-editing the userspace. Might you put an edit protect onto both userpages he has been editing, at least until a Bureaucrat can add him to Abuse? He has been editing his own userpage, and Ashura's. (Hopefully you're still online) - Kogoro | Talk to me | 01:19, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- sort of sucks i dont have the ability to put someone in abuse, but, i do what i can. meanwhile, i think were going to have to look into why this person was editing two pages. -- MAGNEDETH 01:26, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Aye, would be nice if standard Administrators could throw a user into abuse. Thanks for doing the protects though. I'm somewhat assuming that there's about 4 options. Sockpuppet, Sibling/Family Member, Friend, or they're a couple. (Though I think that covers everything...) However, since the 2nd username hasn't made an edit yet, I believe that Check users can't check their IPs yet. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 01:32, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey
I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday. I didn't know how to check messages. I saw all of the warnings now, and I didn't understand that I'm not supposed to do what I did. The user "Ashura" is not mine, it's my friend's. She asked me to edit her userpage, because she didn't know how to. Is there a way to bring back what I did?
Neri ^^ - sort of unsigned comment from Neri (talk • contribs)
- can we bring it back? yes. but, you arent supposed to edit other peoples userpages. even friends. at the request of your friend, we can bring it back, but, you wont be getting your userspace privileges back unless you contribute to the mainspace a bit. thats just the rules. -- MAGNEDETH 23:15, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
I'll ask her to comment here. I really didn't know how to read my messages, or anything like that, but now I do. I would've stopped after the first warning. You said I could get my privileges back if I contribute to the mainspace. I'd love to do so, but, umm, what's the mainspace? Sorry for being such a noob. I'm new to all of these terms and it'll take me some time to understand.
Thanks for everything, Neri - sort of unsigned comment from Neri (talk • contribs)
- the mainspace is basically any page that doesnt start with "User". an example would be any Pokemon page, like Magnemite, or any anime page, like EP030, or any other page really, like Wattson. just make sure that anything you edit uses shortlinks, and doesnt link to a page that doesnt exist. for more information on how to edit, on your talk page, the big welcome you have contains pretty much anything you should have a question about. and if that doesnt, the all knowing Manual of style should have it. if neither do, feel free to ask. also, you can sign your name by simply inputting four tildes (~~~~). -- MAGNEDETH 18:45, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
What did you write on my usertalk page..? It's hard to understand.. Neri 19:40, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

User Page Edits
Isn't the official policy that you can't edit others' user talk pages without permission? --Raijinili 23:38, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- no. the policy is you cant edit other user's main pages. how would we get anything done otherwise? -- MAGNEDETH 00:42, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, that should be added to the policy page. --Raijinili 01:11, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- Corrected "others' talk pages" to "others' user pages" --Raijinili 01:18, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Editing
Hello, I am a rather dormant user. You see, I joined the community a few months ago, and since then, I have been finding it difficult where to begin. I only have about 60 content-related edits. I have noticed that the recent changes page tends to move like that of Wikipedia's, quickly and uneasily. Users seem to make edits here more related to code and such, and seeing as it is blocked from IP address editing, it is less prone to vandalism. It is a very nicely written and organized wikia, and the top-editors here should very proud of themselves. So please, if you know how to get me started up again, I'd like to here what you have to say. Bulbapedian - Talk 23:30, 13 November 2008
- well, i guess ill start off with, thanks for the compliment. as for editing? well, hard to say. its not so much "do this" or "do that", its more along the lines of, you have to ask yourself, "what can i do?" if you like the anime, and know a lot about it, you can head to any anime page and do whatever. fix errors, add synopsis, etc. you like games? same goes for games too. pretty much anything. if you know "a bit" about those things, and would rather leave it to the knowledge heads, you could snoop around and do templates. we just created a new party/team template (which can be seen here) and that needs to be added to lots of pages. im also not sure if weve finished Platinum move tutors on every Pokemon, so, you could look around for that. a big project is to upload sprites onto the archives, thats on my to-do list. in reality, theres always the stuff on the main page. dirty articles and missing articles. in the end, you dont HAVE to do anything. theres no obligation. hanging around the RC in case of a vandal is nice, and making only a few edits is fine, as long as you dont abuse the userspace or talk pages. in the end, do what you can, and edit what you want. if you have any questions, the welcome no your talk page should give you an idea, or the venerable, Manual of style. -- MAGNEDETH 23:51, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Big Fat Meanie
Why are you so mean? I was trying to have a perfectly "relevant" conversation on that vile robot's disgusting talk page and you had to protect it. Why do you hate me so much? - when you stop acting like an idiot, thats when. you yelled at the kid for a completely harmless comment to a good revert. also, if you dont know what "AWOL" and "reprimand" are, then i suggest you go do your homework, rather than argue about something so trivial. i said formally, not aggressively, that you shouldnt have yelled at him. so you decide to get ornery with me? you need to take a chill-pill or your going to find yourself on the business end more times than you care to know. -- MAGNEDETH 00:54, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Template
Talked to TTE about this. He might do this later. See if you like the template idea for Trainer's Eyes:
Strategy: We battle in cooperation
Trainer's Pokémon: Always friendly Pokémon
Self-Introduction: We understand each other, and we understand others.
If you do, great! TTE told me that it'd be better with an actual table for the widths, so can you help me? ht14 04:27, 17 November 2008

Idiot? No sir!
To answer your question, no I'm not an idiot. I'm just trying to update the evobox so they all have the pretty colours. I was not aware that that particular model only works for Pokémon who only evolve once, and was about to revert it myself. Is there a pretty template for those who evolve multiple times? Have a nice day. — THE TROM — 01:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

- Oh, cool. Thanks for that. — THE TROM; — 01:30, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have a slight problem in the finding things to do department, on account of never having played the TCG, watched the anime since early Johto, or done anything else other than play Gen III and IV. Copyediting and cropping irrelevant stuff is fun though. If you've got anything I might enjoy give me a buzz. (By the way, interesting is a POV. I didn't find it interesting, so I lopped it, or cut it down to a manageable chunk of text). — THE TROM — 03:57, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- well, if you had read the welcome template, you would have noted a line in it that explained exactly what you want to know. the line being:

- A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
- so, there you go. the last one, "article's needing improvement" is probably your best bet, because, as you said, youre not a TCG-er. now, some of the trivia you deleted was in the right, after all, no one cares that Exeggutor and Starmie have letters lining up in the dex (or whatever) but, be lenient, its just trivia. -- MAGNEDETH 04:16, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Regarding footsteps
I edited the articles on the Beldum evolutionary family for having an inaccurate number of steps required to hatch an egg, but you undid the edits and wrote on my talk page that the numbers are based on in-game coding, and there's no reason to edit it. Does it really matter if it's based on in-game coding? Fact of the matter is, it takes 10,455 steps to hatch a Beldum, not 10,240. Try it yourself. I've done it three times in a row now myself. Oh, and if this belongs on my talk page, then you have my apologies (for the misplacement, not the claim).--ShadowsofYesterday 00:40, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Just wondering
That p2 template that you put in Scyther to link to Scizor, is that like the new standard link template to the Pokémon's page, while the regular p is outdated? I was just wondering so I can start using it if it is. --PsychicRider☮ 00:52, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

A couple things
- When you archived Template talk:Welcome, you forgot to take away the "Archives" section from the page of Archive 2.
- There should be a space between "Archive" and "2" in the archive's title.

Mr. Pikastorm edited his Userspace at least three times today but I just saw them almost all in a row but I don't know what template to use so I'm telling you to do it. Look at the recent changes. Thank you. --DialgaRULES 01:30, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

- Yeah, warn only when there are at least 4 edits. Just for you to know it in the future, the template is {{subst:Userspace warning}}. If it's not the first warning, add "|1" or "|2", for 2nd and 3rd warning, respectively. 4th warning was IMO the ban notification and should not be used by regular users. CoolPikachu! said that the former is what you said the page title of Brock's father should be. But, when the Elite 4 member Flint appears in the anime, "Flint (anime)" won't be enough. So, why do you support "Flint (anime)" rather than "Flint (Kanto)"? ♥Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 21:52 12/20/2008

Good rule of thumb in these instances: replace “who” and “whom” with “he” and “him.” If it makes sense, it’s correct. “He evolves into Venusaur starting at level 32” vs “Him evolves into Venusaur starting at level 32.” In this case, whom is incorrect. IIMarckus 23:51, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
A Template Question
You know those templates on the bottom of one of my subpages? I was considering making them "official" templates like "Template:SharKing Win" and "Template:SharKing Lose," like DCM has "Template:Evil Cookie." You mind? シャーキング 私に相談してください。 自分の編集を参照してください。 23:24, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- if you make it as a personal subpage, then i think it should be ok, just dont put it in the mainspace. ie: "User:SharKing/battle" or something. you can also make it so that you have one page with two templates on it, but, thats a tad more extensive and i dont have the time to explain it right now. -- MAGNEDETH 23:30, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Move-protection
Can the main characters be moved-protected to sysop? I think it is within reason to do this so that some vandal doesn't come along and move them. Main characters, as well various other things need proper move protection. I can think of the following to be move-protected: Items, Poké balls, Pokémon disambiguation pages, and the game articles. --Bulbapedian - Talk 19:54, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Blissey Trivia
I'm new to this Wiki thing. I read the manual of style and all the stuff, but I think we learn by trying and trying. I wrote something about Blissey, Chansey and Arceus. They all have 255 base exp yield, so they're the Pokémon who could yield more experience in the games.
I guess, however, when you edited what I wrote, the information got wrong, because...
According to the formula here, exp = (a x b x L)/7
So, a Blissey that belongs to a trainer, at level 100, would yield 1,5 x 255 x 100 / 7 = 5464 Lucky egg and the fact of being a foreigner Pokémon is essential information, I guess, to reach that value of 13933, since we would aplly x 1,5 and x 1,7
That was just to show the maximum experience one could get "legally" in the games.

Ice-type
Wow, that was some fast reverting. I thought replacing icons to text with colored background would be more in line with the Pokémon learnsets, and that being sortable that way would make separating the moves useless (as you could easily sort by Physical/Special/Status anyway, which was basically the original separation, but lumping Physical and Special together), but if you're working on a table with similar changes (I suppose), then I guess I just did work you were halfway done improving. But anyway, is there a list of these types of "work in progress" you higher-ups are working on, so I don't end up doing the same thing again? (As in, improving something you were halfway done improving more yourselves) Memo 04:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

- meh, either way, beta refers to the working model, which is where all this jive comes from. prototype is a generic term that doesnt have a pinpointed definition, where as beta instantly refers to a working model. -- MAGNEDETH 05:19, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- That's why I wanted to use it, as a generic term to refer to anything before the final! I'm repeating myself on like 4 pages now heh. MK 05:20, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Prototype n. 1. An original type, form, or instance serving as a basis or standard for later stages. 2. An original, full-scale, and usually working model of a new product or new version of an existing product. 3. An early, typical example.
It's well defined, so that's not the problem. MK 05:22, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- those pages really dont need their own pages per versions. hell, FRLG and Emerald barely have enough to keep they page they have. itd be a waste of time. -- MAGNEDETH 05:25, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's an encyclopedia. Everything is given weight equal to its notability, basically. It's not a waste of my time, or anyone's, if it strives for accuracy. MK 05:27, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- youre absolutely right, but the equality of notability on beta versions seriously pales in comparison to, well, just about everything else. i love beta goodies just as much as the next guy, but, cmon, theres better things to work on. -- MAGNEDETH 05:31, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- It was a small amount of work, and I did almost all of it, when it was reverted. :( But anyways I'm done. MK 05:34, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Assistance needed
Forgive me for not knowing this, but could you assist me in making the VA table "roundy," as you put it on the forums? I can't figure out how to make it work. The link is right here. Thanks. --PAK Man Talk 20:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
