Functions

The app featured an English language quiz, with questions about various Pokémon and the Pokémon world and additional quiz questions could be brought with in-app purchases. The app also included an English to Japanese dictionary featuring terminology frequently found in the Pokémon games.

There was also a reading function, where the app would read sentences and phrases out loud, so users could check their pronunciation. This feature used the speech synthesizer built into iOS, so was unable to pronounce some Pokémon, character or place names correctly.

The app also acted as a companion for Pokémon X and Y, whereby players could play the Nintendo 3DS games in English, and then use the app on their iPhone to photograph and then translate the on-screen text into Japanese. The app was only compatible with Pokémon X and Y and not Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire or later games.

The game would also award medals for clearing quizzes and meeting other conditions, such as correctly answering X questions in a row. Collecting medals would eventually increase the medal rank.

Compatibility

The application can be used on:

  • iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. (iOS 7.1 or higher)

iPhone 4, iPod touch, and iPad are not supported.
