Description | This Trainer from the town of Postwick is Leon's little brother. His experience in the Gym Challenge inspired him to chase a new dream of becoming a Pokémon Professor. |
Hop (Japanese: ホップ Hop) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Zamazenta. This sync pair was first made available on August 12, 2021. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX beginning on July 14, 2023, which unlocks Hop's EX style. However, unlike most sync pairs, this pair cannot be upgraded with Champion Spirits—only Custom Legendary Spirits from the villain event Lamenting a Millennium can be used.
Hop in his Neo Champion attire forms a sync pair with his Galarian Zapdos. This pair could be obtained through a limited Master Fair sync pair scout beginning on March 2, 2023. This pair could be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.
Hop also forms a sync pair with Rillaboom, which is capable of Dynamaxing. This pair can be obtained through a Variety sync pair scout beginning on December 10, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.
Hop also forms a sync pair with Pincurchin. This pair can be obtained by exchaging 300 Training Tickets beginning on January 1, 2025. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Trivia
- Hop's rival is Gloria from Pokémon Sword, based on his ownership of Zamazenta and Gloria's Zacian.
- Hop shares his Japanese voice actress, Yuko Sanpei, with his counterpart from the Pokémon: Twilight Wings miniseries.
- Hop & Zamazenta are the only sync pair obtained from a Legendary Adventures story that only has moves of a single type: Steel. All other sync pairs from Legendary Adventures have moves of at least two different types.
- All versions of Hop use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon) and victory with them. Those Trainers include Victor, Gloria, Marnie, Bede, Piers, Leon, and Sonia.
- Hop's Champion attire resembles the outfit worn by his brother, Leon.
- In his Champion outfit's sync pair story, Hop reveals he first met Zapdos in the Wild Area, similar to how it's encountered in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- In Gloria's challenge uniform sync pair story, it is implied that Hop owns a Scorbunny. Given that Gloria's first partner Pokémon was confirmed to be an Inteleon in Beachside Rivalry, this Scorbunny is likely Hop's first partner Pokémon.
- While he is shown to own a Scorbunny during A Jolly Trio!, it is unclear if this Scorbunny is the same one he was previously implied to own or if this is a new Scorbunny that was hatched while helping Professor Bellis with her research.
- In the solo event Three Rivals, Three Ways, Hop is shown to have been raised his Rillaboom from a Grookey that was hatched by Professor Bellis.
Origin
Hop's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Sword and Shield. In Pokémon Sword's post-game scenario, Hop befriends Zamazenta after coming to its aid, and it joins his party. Crowned Shield Zamazenta's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.
Rillaboom is Hop's signature Pokémon in the core series games if the player chooses Scorbunny as their first partner Pokémon. It is capable of Dynamaxing in his eighth battle against the player. Rillaboom's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.
Hop uses a Pincurchin on his team beginning with his seventh battle against the player in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pincurchin's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.
Hop is not seen owning a Galarian Zapdos outside this game. Zapdos's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.
