The Great Crater of Paldea (Japanese: パルデアの大穴 Great Pit of Paldea) is the massive crater located in the center of the Paldea region that was formed over one million years ago. Located inside the crater is Area Zero, where the Terastal phenomenon originated from.
Geography
The Great Crater of Paldea is surrounded by a ring of mountains, where wild Garchomp and Magnezone can be found. Nestled in the northwestern mountains near Medali is the Zero Gate, the primary gateway for those wishing to descend into Area Zero, though most people are forbidden from entering. An official school rule forbids any student of the Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV from entering Area Zero due to the aggressive Pokémon that live there and the hazardous geography of the area. After accessing Area Zero once, the player may also access Area Zero by climbing the mountains and dropping through the cloud cover.
ItemsSpecial encounters
Rayquaza around the Great Crater of Paldea
After acquiring a Rayquaza Treat from Snacksworth, Rayquaza will spawn in this area as a static encounter. If defeated, it can be battled again after the game has been rebooted, provided that over one hour has passed in Nintendo Switch's internal clock since its defeat. It is coded to never be Shiny.
