This October, Elīna recommends: 📌 It is worth following the insights of Nokia and Ericsson the field of digital twins, as well as Nvidia's digital twin solutions in the industry, and the Digital Earth project. 📌 In terms of literature, I suggest reading "Mirror Worlds" by David Gelernter, published in 1991. Although the term "digital twin" wasn't used at that time, the book provides fascinating insights into this concept. 📌 Kevin O'Donovan is a widely recognized influencer on the topic of digital twins, and I recommend following his work to gain valuable insights. After a successful planning session, we are looking forward to the NATO Digital Backbone Experimentation Event 2024 this October. This year's focus on Multi-Domain Operations emphasizes the critical interconnectivity between land, maritime, air, and space. As we prepare for this pivotal event, we are collaborating closely with the Ministry of Defence, the Nacionālie bruņotie spēki | Latvian National Armed Forces, and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT). Last week in Riga a NATO briefing took place to announce the conduct the Digital Backbone Experimentation in Latvia at the end of October 2024 on the 5G test site at Ādaži military base. Latvia's advanced 5G environment serves as an ideal platform for this third consecutive year of NATO's next-gen technology experimentation. DiBaX is Led by NATO HQ SACT, the Latvian Ministry of Defense, and the Nacionālie bruņotie spēki | Latvian National Armed Forces. LMT is the event’s integrator, providing 5G test site.“ This year's focus on multi-domain operations means greater involvement of different assets—from various domain assets to unmanned systems and various communication technologies. Tremendous work has to be done to bring it all together and successfully execute the experimentation in October,” says Kaspars Pollaks, Head of Business Defence at LMT.
