The Latvian Olympic team is bringing their favorite local tastes to Paris!🇫🇷🏅 #RimiLatvia is supporting Latvian Olympic team on their journey to Paris with special goodie boxes from local producers. 🥳📦To ensure our athletes have all the energy they need for their competitions, Rimi and the Latvian Olympic Committee surveyed the team to find out their favorite snacks that help to boost their energy! 🔋💪 Garlic bread toasts, traditional candies such as “Gotiņa,” “Serenāde,” “Vāverīte,” Rāmkalni dried fruits, oat cookies, “Skrīveri” protein bars, and many more tasty goods from local producers are only a few that were chosen by the athletes. 🍞🍬🍪🍫 We also asked society to share their suggestions for the perfect Olympic energy boost. Wholemeal bread, dairy products, beloved local sweets like Laima and Skrīveri, and, for sure, honey for the sweet wins! 🍯 So Rimi is sending 63 kilograms of tasty treats to Paris to help our athletes conquer the competition. We're confident that these familiar flavors will provide the comfort and energy they need to shine on the world stage. Rimi in the Baltic has started piloting "flow packaging" on two types of minced meat to reduce its environmental footprint! 🌱 This initiative aligns with our commitment to minimizing our impact on the planet. Additionally, ongoing pilots are exploring recyclable options for private-label packaging, contributing to our goal of 100% recyclable private-label packaging by 2025. ♻️ 👉 The new packaging uses 82% less plastic and 1,260 kg less paper annually than the previous packaging (equivalent to the weight of 12 passenger cars) 👉 Flow packaging is lighter, resulting in fewer emissions during transportation. 👉Meat quality and visibility remain unchanged, ensuring customers can still assess freshness before purchase, and shelf life is the same. 👉The packaging is easy to open, use, and it takes up less space in the bin. ✅ Moreover, we've already achieved a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to 2022 and we strive to become Net Zero by 2030.

Last week, on Friday and Saturday, we were glad to participate in the "LAMPA" conversation festival where Rimi participated in four different discussions.💡 🗣️ Mecislavs Maculevics, #RimiBaltic's HR Director, participated in a discussion on labour market globalization and remigration opportunities. He also joined a panel with other leaders to share professional failures and lessons learned, which was one of the most attended stages of the day. 🗣️ Zanda Sadre, #RimiBaltic's Corporate Responsibility and Communication Director, shared an inspirational story on the company's sustainability journey. Did you know, that the use of cloth shopping bags has become a feature of shoppers' daily lives?💡 👉 42% or almost every second Rimi shopper in the Baltics at self-service checkouts prefer reusable cloth bags, thus making an environmentally friendly choice every time they shop. 🌱 "Following up #RimiRetailHackathon, and having a pilot with one of the winning startups - goodbag - better world, we want to emphasize that the consequences of our everyday actions or choices can trigger significant changes on a much broader scale. #RimiLatvia colleagues celebrating together☀️ Time spent together is what makes the family stronger, therefore this week #RimiFamily came together to celebrate midsummer together! Colleagues enjoyed various activities, starting with a special “Paprdes zieds” haunting activity around the office, different workshops, sharing a traditional meal (cold pink soup), and trying out different types of cheese, sausage, and beverages! #RimiLatvia has launched a unique pilot project – a hybrid store operating in self-service mode during specific hours of the day 🛒 During these designated hours, customers can navigate the entire shopping process independently, from entering the store through automatic doors to completing their purchases at self-service checkout counters. 🛒The store has been opened in Rimi Olympic Center thus it is specially tailored to meet visitors' needs, offering a range of products suited for athletes, young individuals, and active lifestyle enthusiasts. "We understand that the habits of our customers are changing, and technology has developed to such an extent that it allows for completely independent shopping. At the same time, we still observe that some customers prefer to receive a personal approach from store employees. To be even closer to our customers and satisfy various needs, we are launching this pilot project, which allows everyone to choose the shopping they like best. #RimiEstonia has been awarded the golden level at this year's Responsible Business Index, the leading award in Estonia in sustainability. 🏆 "This result is a testament to the long-term work and dedication Rimi has put into mapping ESG areas and setting clear, measurable goals," highlighted Katrin Bats, Head of Corporate Responsibility of Rimi Estonia. Additionally, Katrin's role as a board member of CSR Estonia is contributing to the whole business society to become more sustainable. The CSR index, the oldest ESG tool in Estonia, underwent updates for the 2024 questionnaire, aligning with the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This qualitative leap has raised the substantive threshold in each category, reflecting Rimi's commitment to sustainability.
