About us

MikroTik is a Latvian company which was founded in 1996 to develop routers and wireless ISP systems. MikroTik now provides hardware and software for Internet connectivity in most of the countries around the world. Our experience in using industry standard PC hardware and complete routing systems allowed us in 1997 to create the RouterOS software system that provides extensive stability, controls, and flexibility for all kinds of data interfaces and routing. In 2002 we decided to make our own hardware, and the RouterBOARD brand was born. We have resellers in most parts of the world, and customers in probably every country on the planet. Our company is located in Riga, the capital city of Latvia and has more than 200 employees.

Industrial Liaison Officer for Latvia at CERN

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) remains the largest producer of scientific data in the world and this week Latvia signed the Memorandum of Understanding with CERN to connect its new Tier 2 computing infrastructure to the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). On this occasion, we had the pleasure of hosting in Riga Joachim Josef Mnich, Director for Research and Computing, CERN and visiting one of the most successful Latvian electronics companies, MikroTik. Founded in 1996, today MikroTik provides hardware and software products for Internet connectivity in most countries around the world and some of their routers and switches can also be found in CERN. As a European electronics manufacturer MikroTik operates in a fast-developing global market and the company has always placed a strong emphasis on R&D. It donates its equipment to scientific and educational institutions in Latvia, helping to advance research in fields such as medicine. Thank you for receiving us MikroTik and showcasing the best of Latvian innovation! #InnovateLatvia #LatviaCERN CERN Nacionālais kontaktpunkts Latvijā / Invest in Latvia / CERN Computing
