🍳Do you know the connection between #AI and an omelette? And between miniskirts and cookie banners?🍪 🔎The answer is not about food, it is about #DataEthics! Dr Carlos Vega is quite used to drawing powerful analogies to make students understand his lectures on Applied #PhilosophyOfScience and Data Ethics at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine - University of Luxembourg. Ethics that applies in his daily #research work at the Luxembourg Institute of Health in the field of #DigitalHealth. 🤖With the ever-growing presence of #generativeAI and the vast amounts of #data available online, grey areas and ethical dilemmas are emerging. Carlos Vega explores the practical challenges of data collection, processing and visualisation. 🎙️Listen to the latest SciLux episode to discover how #philosophy intersects with #DataScience and the importance of control over our data➡️ https://lnkd.in/e47nvA2e ℹ️Dr Vega even recently won an award at the Luxembourg #ScienceWriting Competition - organised by science.lu from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and DESCOM project from the University of Luxembourg - for his article "The weakness of AI and science – explained with an omelet". 🫀In both Europe and worldwide, #Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability. 🔬At the Luxembourg Institute of Health, Miron Sopic is investigating the links between various #RNA molecules, their modifications, and #CardiovascularDiseases in order to improve treatment. More specifically, Miron’s postdoctoral project centers on #epitranscriptomics, a relatively new field of study. His current project is exploring whether a specific type of RNA modification, known as #m6A (methylated adenosine), can be used to stratify patients with myocardial infarction. 🌐Together with Yvan Devaux, Miron Sopić is also involved in the COST Action AtheroNET, which focuses on the application of #multiomics tools to improve the management of cardiovascular disease (CVD). ⭐In #Luxembourg, Miron has found a place with a strong emphasis on translating #research into real-world applications, particularly through #collaboration with the private sector. The country's research ecosystem is designed to foster innovation and facilitate the commercialisation of scientific discoveries. #MSCAPF #CVDS #ResearchLuxembourg #TranslationalMedicine #PersonalisedHealthcare MSCA SE CardioSCOPE https://lnkd.in/ed7spFHc
