Luxembourg for Finance (LFF) is the Agency for the Development of the Financial Centre. It is a public-private partnership between the Luxembourg Government and the Luxembourg Financial Industry Federation (PROFIL), bringing together the various financial industry associations. Founded in 2008, its objective is to develop Luxembourg’s financial centre and help open up markets and identify new business opportunities. LFF connects international investors to the range of financial services provided in Luxembourg, such as asset management and wealth management, banking, insurance, capital market operations or advisory services. In addition to being the first port of call for international journalists, LFF represents the financial centre in international fora, cooperates with the various industry associations and monitors global trends in finance. Finally, LFF manages multiple communication channels, providing relevant material on products and services available in Luxembourg, organises roadshows to international business locations, and takes part in selected world-class trade fairs and congresses.

Luxembourg remains at the forefront of both the digital and green transition, and the regulators focus on key developments such as DORA and CSRD ensure the financial centre’s future readiness. On the occasion of last week’s mission to Italy, Luxembourg’s Finance Minister, Gilles Roth, was invited to speak at Università Bocconi, where he made a compelling argument against the concept of a “Fortress Europe". He highlighted that isolating Europe from global financial markets is not a sustainable strategy for future growth. Instead, embracing open markets, enhancing cross-border collaboration, and fostering innovation are vital to maintaining Europe’s competitive edge. This perspective serves as a crucial reminder for policymakers and financial institutions alike: protectionism can hinder progress. To drive growth, Europe must continue to engage globally, adapt to new challenges, and champion a finance sector that is both resilient and inclusive.
